Best Time To Visit Bangkok

Bangkok is hot year-round, but some months are definitely more pleasant than others. For the most comfortable weather:

  • Cool Season (November to February): The best time to visit. Think blue skies, manageable humidity, and slightly cooler evenings—perfect for exploring.

  • Hot Season (March to June): Temperatures soar, so be ready to sweat. If you don’t mind the heat, it’s a great time for fewer crowds.

  • Rainy Season (July to October): Expect regular showers but lush landscapes. Just bring a light rain jacket or umbrella.

Tips For Packing For Bangkok

  • Dress Modestly for Temples: Shoulders and knees should be covered. A lightweight scarf or kimono is a lifesaver.

  • Choose Breathable Fabrics: Linen, cotton, and rayon are your best friends.

  • Pack Slip-On Shoes: You’ll be taking them off a lot when entering temples.

  • Sun Protection Is Key: Sunglasses, hats, and SPF are non-negotiable.

  • Go Light but Layered: Malls and restaurants blast AC, so a light cardigan or shirt can help.

🏖️ Beach Style Meets City Smarts: What to Pack for a Southeast Asia Getaway

From island hopping in Krabi to strolling through Bangkok’s night markets and sacred temples, Southeast Asia offers a dynamic blend of sun, culture, and style. If you’re heading to Thailand or nearby destinations, here’s how to pack chic, dress respectfully, and protect your trip — all while making the most of your fashion and finance tools.

🛡️ 1. Insure Your Trip with the Right Coverage

Whether you’re planning a beach week or mixing in urban adventures, travel insurance for Southeast Asia is a must. Look for the best travel insurance for Southeast Asia city travel that includes medical coverage, flight delays, and lost luggage — especially when hopping between islands or borders.

💳 2. Pack the Right Credit Card

Maximize your spending with one of the best travel credit cards for Thailand trips. These typically offer no foreign transaction fees, travel points, and even perks like lounge access — perfect for stress-free transitions between beach resorts and busy city hubs.

🧕 3. Don’t Forget Modest Looks for Temple Visits

While swimsuits and sarongs are perfect for the beach, you’ll want modest fashion for temple visits — like linen trousers, maxi skirts, or light shawls to cover shoulders. Respectful and stylish? Yes, please.

📦 4. Use Smart Packing Tools

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by what to bring, try fashion-forward packing list services like PackPoint or Outfits.app. These tools help you balance resort wear with city-friendly pieces, based on destination, climate, and planned activities.

💱 5. Avoid Fees While You Shop

Use currency conversion cards with no foreign fees when shopping local markets or paying for excursions. These cards help you get the best exchange rate and may include fraud protection or even cashback on travel-related purchases.

Phuket has some of the most stunning beaches to check out. From Surin beach, Harn beach, Khao Beach, Mai Khao Beach, Nai Yang Beach Nai Harn Beach just to name a few.

Phuket is home to many many high-end seaside resorts, spas and restaurants but there is still something for everyone in every budget range.

Many only a minutes walk to the beach if not just meters. I have experienced each budget range from budget living at Gold Digger’s Resort and no its nothing like the playboy mansion but great service and hospitality in a clean too.

We also sampled a mid-range hotel at Hotel Ikon with balcony sea views. Then sample luxury in the private villa at Renaissance with endless private beaches for guests only.

So if you are looking for where to stay in Phuket the guide below will help you secure a great place stay in Phuket, in one of the best areas to stay in Phuket, whether you want budget, mid-range or luxury in addition to where you want to be in Phuket City, near markets and shops or in a place like Patong that is lively with many nightclubs, bars, and restaurant entertainment.

Whether you are looking for best place to stay in Phuket for families, where to stay in Phuket for singles with a lively atmosphere there is something for everyone.

With a beautiful white sand beach facing the Andaman Sea, it is a highly frequented area for tourists and locals alike.

Staying in Patong Beach, you will only be about a half hour’s ride away from Wat Chalong, Phuket’s most revered Buddhist Temple.

Another popular village in Phuket is Kamala. It gives visitors a more authentic and quiet Thailand experience.

It is not as crowded or offers the type of night life one comes to expect from areas like Patong as it offers a quieter and more relaxed feel to Phuket.

So, while it too boasts a lovely beach open to visitors and locals, Kamala Beach is not as crowded as in Patong or Karon.

Kamala Beach also has some of the international hotels (e.g. Marriott Courtyard) as well as villas and apartments that attract retirees and long-term visitors.

So, step back in time, relax, and enjoy a slower paced travel at Kamala. For more hotels in Kamala Beach.

🇹🇭 Thailand Travel Planning Tips: What to Pack, Protect & Prepare

Thailand is a tropical dream — bustling cities, serene temples, island beaches, and jungle retreats. But before you zip up your suitcase, it’s worth planning for more than just what to wear. Here’s how to prep smartly for your Thai adventure while maximizing comfort, coverage, and savings.

1. Secure the Right Travel Insurance

Don’t leave home without it — the best travel insurance for trips to Thailand and Asia can protect you against everything from delayed flights to emergency evacuations. For broader coverage, look into plans categorized under the best travel insurance for Southeast Asia that include multiple stops or longer stays.

2. Don’t Forget Health Coverage

Healthcare in Thailand is affordable, but it’s still essential to have health insurance coverage for Thailand travel, especially if you’ll be doing more adventurous activities like island-hopping, hiking, or riding scooters. Check if your travel policy includes hospital visits, prescriptions, and COVID-related coverage.

3. Pack Light, Dress Smart

Thailand’s humidity calls for breezy clothing — think lightweight resort wear for tropical destinations. Flowy maxi dresses, cotton sets, breathable jumpsuits, and linen shirts are your best friends. Don’t forget a sunhat and slip-on sandals for beach days or temple visits.

4. Use the Right Card to Pay

Avoid sneaky fees by using travel credit cards with no foreign transaction fees. Many top-rated travel cards also offer perks like hotel discounts, travel insurance, and cashback on international purchases — perfect for shopping local markets or booking Thai massages.

5. Stay Connected the Smart Way

Whether you’re navigating Bangkok or looking for a beach café in Phuket, having data is key. Look for travel SIM cards with cashback offers, which often come with unlimited data packages and can be purchased in advance or on arrival.

The 3 weeks in Asia kicks off with Beijing. Getting to Beijing is easier than you think since it has access via air from airports across the world like that of Amsterdam, Chicago, London, Delhi, etc. We had flown in from Budapest but have just easily done this is from London.

Since the next stop is Cambodia after Beijing, you can apply for 72-Hour visa exemption at the Beijing Capital Airport. Using this free visa, you can travel through Beijing and visit the local sights. However, this 72-Hour visa exemption will be applicable to the people from selected countries only. So, make sure that you read my post for additional details as you apply for the visa to Beijing and even as you purchase the next ticket to Cambodia. This gives you around two days and a half in Beijing, which will allow you to travel through top tourist attractions in Beijing.

The Forbidden City and Imperial Palace: The first destination to explore on foot has to be the sprawling and mystifying palace that has been around since the illustrious Ming dynasty. There plenty of tours in Beijing to help you make the most of your time. Of course, the actual palace had been burnt and then in the 18th century, it was built back to its present glory.

One thing that you will find is its impressive facade and glamour complete with interesting murals and artistic decor everywhere you see. The absence of the trees in the main central courtyard will be revealed before you the actual dimensions of the palace. Many gates have nine gilded and very ornately decorated doors.

The names that these gates and halls have like the Gate of Divine Prowess, the Meridian Gate, are sure to inspire you in some way or the other. The Five marble bridges and the highly decorated gold throne of the Imperial Palace are all things to take snaps and stows away in your memory.

From here, visiting yet another marvel is The Great Wall of China. However, as you travel to the historic spot, you can have a platter of the famous dumplings or Peking Roast Duck. There are scores of malls and markets within the city that you might drop in to have a grand time shopping.

The Great Wall of China: It is an architectural wonder and the only manmade monument that is visible to space. This is truly something and when you visit it, the wall is going to astound you. Of course, you cannot walk the entire length, but you can surely visit a portion of the wall that passes through the north of Beijing city. The wall gets names to the places it passes through, and so you can visit one of the sections like Badaling Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall, Simatai Great Wall that passes through Beijing. The opening times of these sections through the wall are different, and so it is better to get a  tour to Great Wall or a local guidebook or the tour operators for a drive to these sections of the wall.

One of the Zhou dynasty’s dukes between 770 and 221BC commissioned the wall. Then the actual work and the Great Wall that we see today came up during the Ming dynasty. Through the length from the wall, there are watchtowers and fortresses to ensure that the earlier monarchs kept an eye open for the advancing enemies.

A captivating visual treat is this visit to the Great Wall. The entry is closed for the evening, and so you must not make a plan to visit it very late in the evening.

Tian’anmen Square: The “Gate of Heavenly Peace” or Tian’anmen Square is one of the highlights of Beijing city. As a city center, Tian’anmen Square played a major role throughout the Chinese history. This is one of the largest squares of its kind throughout the world for the biggest rallies and parades. The Gate of Heavenly Peace of Tian’anmen Square gate is on one side, and the Great Hall of the People on the other side makes it a stunning place to visit at sunset. You can see the hoisting of the Chinese flag in the morning and the lowering of it in the evening completely in a ceremonial way.

As you wrap up your stay in Beijing, try to visit one of the many markets in Beijing like Panjiayuan Flea Market, Hongqiao Pearl Market and more to shop for everything from superior bags, fashionable clothes, and other accessories. After all of these, you can get ready for your next Southeast Asian destination of Cambodia.

Day 3-7 In Cambodia

The country of Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia, and it is a peninsula, which has Laos on one side, Thailand on the other and Vietnam on the third side. The Khmer Dynasty ruled over the country for over 600 years during which the country had developed culturally and otherwise. It saw the influx of two very popular religions Hinduism and Buddhism leading to the rise of many majestic temples that you must certainly make a point to visit.

Day 3 and Day 4 Sihanoukville: Sihanoukville in the north has a plethora of beaches, and if you cannot do without your dose of beaches, then this is where you can stay and start with first. There are many beaches in this strip like the Koh Pos. There is a small bridge leading you from the mainland to the Koh Pos where you can simply relax by the beach or visit one of the shacks and dive in some of the fantastic seafood like Fish Amok, Kampot Pepper Crab, or other delicacies like Khmer Red Curry, or Nom Banh Chok in its genuine form.

Among the beaches, Cambodia will not disappoint and here in the Sihanoukville area itself, you can find Victory Beach, The Serendipity Beach, Ochheuteal Beach, and other such beaches.

Day 5 -7  Siem Reap: Your 3 weeks in SE Asia is incomplete without a visit to Siem Reap. Besides the beaches and the abundance of it, there are other attractions like the Angkor Wat temples. Head off to Siem Reap by air or by road as per your wish and time. Siem Reap has a great concentration of temples that have Hindu roots and even strains of earliest Buddhist art and architecture flowing around.

Angkor Wat temples in Cambodia are an attraction and is one of the iconic symbols of Cambodia in any tour guidebook. The Angkor Wat temples are one-of-a-kind and nothing left in the world like these in Cambodia. The Ta Prohm temple in Siem Reap is among the most famous temples as it was featured in the Tomb Raider movie. The temple submerged in the tight embrace of trees within a forest is what adds to the beauty of this temple.

Last but not the least, the Preah Khan temple is another important place that you might wish to visit whose architectural genius will stay with you for a lifetime. There are plenty of things to do in Siem Reap beyond Angkor Wat temples too. In addition, I have also shared tips on the best locations to stay in Siem Reap.

WEEK 2 – Thailand, Bangkok, Phuket

Day 8-11 Bangkok: Now that you have had your fill of the mystic land of Cambodia, get ready to enjoy more of it,  and embrace the stark diversity as you enter Thailand. While Cambodia has, a charm of its own, Thailand is more boisterous as a tourist spot, and it does not disguise its intentions at any cost.

So, the first stop in Thailand will be in the bright and welcoming capital of Bangkok. Here you can spend at least 2 days. The city has gained fame for its beach resorts, and the massage and Thai spas that everyone in the world knows about. You too can start your trip on a refreshing note by signing up for a spa here. I have shared a guide on the best areas to stay in Bangkok to make the process of finding a place easy. If you do stay in Bangkok longer, I highly recommend considering Airbnbs in Bangkok. Then you can proceed with your sightseeing trip in Bangkok.

The golden temple dome of Wat Arun must definitely be on your trip. Stop by and find yourself drawn to this magnificent shimmery gold temple located by the Chao Phraya river.

If it is not yet noon, then you can surely visit the Grand Palace and even stop by to pray and be more mesmerized by the Emerald Buddha temple. Now that the day is coming to an end, a trip to the most beautiful Bangkok Ocean World will reveal before you the best marine life that thrives in these parts.

Begin the next day with a trip to the Wat Pho temple, where you can find a golden statue of reclining Buddha. This is a must-visit on your trip here.

The next must-go to destination is the Floating market, at the Khlong Lat Mayom, or the Bang Khu or various other places. You can try one of their local fruit juices or simply hang around to experience. There are plenty of tours from Bangkok to the floating market I recommend leaving early!

Next, you can proceed to shop like crazy in one of the many markets and malls. The bustling Chinatown or the Chatuchak markets every weekend are the ideal hubs to shop for anything local. My Bangkok & Phuket itinerary also shares tips on cool things to do in Bangkok at night.

The Perfect Itinerary For Bangkok And Phuket

May 29, 2020 by admin Leave a Comment

How to plan the perfect Bangkoks and Phuket itinerary. Phi Phi island and Krabi day trips

Thailand is one of the most popular tourist destinations; famous for its temples, cuisine, nightlife, and the ability to cater to people with all kinds of budgets.

Bangkok and Phuket are the two most visited Thai cities and I have just the perfect Bangkok and Phuket itinerary for seeing the most of these two amazing places to visit in Thailand. Now I have already shared reasons why you will love Bangkok as well as an extended 3 week Thailand itinerary.

How to plan the perfect Bangkoks and Phuket itinerary. Phi Phi island and Krabi day trips

Planning Your Trip To Thailand

  • Flights: I highly recommend arriving in Bangkok than Phuket to save you on too many connections unless you are already in Asia. We live in London so we explored Cambodia, China before arriving in Thailand. We could just have easily got flights from London to Bangkok. You can find most major airlines on Expedia flying from major cities into Thailand. Also once you are in Thailand, Air Asia had stupidly cheap flights from Bangkok to Phuket too.

  • Hotels: I have shared posts on where we stayed in both Bangkok and a variety of hotels we experienced in Phuket from budget at Gold Diggers Resort to mid-range at Ikon Hotel and then our luxury villa at Renaissance Hotel located right on the beach. Where you stay will very much depend on your travel budget but another reason this side of the world is popular is how cheap it it is. I have shared extensive guides on best areas to stay in Bangkok and best areas to stay in Phuket with hotel recommendations too to make choosing something easier.

  • Tours: I have shared tips on amazing tours in Bangkok that won’t break the bank and a great way to maximise your Bangkok itinerary.
  • Food: Gastronomy in Thailand is out of this world! Food alone is also a great reason to visit. From street food to amazing restaurants.

  • Transport: Getting around Bangkok is super easy as there are plenty of transportation options. Trains, tuk-tuks and taxis. Thus a word of warning though, also make sure you check or negotiate the price on the tuk-tuk before getting on. The same for the taxi or insist on the drive using the meter to avoid being taken for a ride! No pun intended. 🙂

  • Budget: When it comes to budget this is a difficult one to one to estimate as my style of travel or type of hotels may not be the same hence the variety of options on the blog to help you travel within your means and budget. Food is cheap, transport is cheap, services are cheap, hotels are plenty from budget to luxe with plenty of options for cool Airbnbs in Bangkok if you want a home from home feel.

  • Packing List: While this is an amazing country for beach and adventure holidays please adhere to local customs and rules when it comes to what to wear when visiting temples. For additional inspiration on what to pack for Thailand see tips on the linked post and here.

Thailand Itinerary For Bangkok And Phuket

While Bangkok and Phuket are the main focus you cannot head to Phuket without exploring the Phi Phi islands. With that in mind I have also included excursions to make this a Bangkok Phuket and  Phi Phi itinerary/.

DAY 1 Bangkok

Day 1 in Bangkok would be all about exploring the temples and other historical monuments here. Bangkok has a lot of temples because it is a predominantly Buddhist country. When visiting temples, make sure to dress appropriately, that is, covering your body adequately. Many places may not permit you if inappropriately dressed.

Chao Phraya River Cruise

Chao Phrya River is the river that flows from the mid of Bangkok. Most people prefer having a dinner cruise for Chao Phrya River but for this itinerary, the best time for this river cruise would be early morning or afternoon.

Chao Phrya River cruise would allow you to witness sky-scraping towers of Bangkok with the crisp early morning orange sun rays shining upon them.

Also, since Bangkok can get pretty hot and humid during the day, in the morning the weather would be pleasant enough for you to cruise the river.

Your Chao Phrya river cruise would start from Sathorn Pier. You can either hire private tours or take ferries just like the majority of the public. Along the bank of the river, you would find a lot of chic restaurants, wooded houses, and temples.

You can grab something to eat from any of the stalls or have breakfast prior to cruising in any of the restaurants near Sathorn Pier.

Or, after the cruise, you could treat yourself to some royalty at Michelin starred restaurant Blue Elephant that has franchises all over the world, promoting exquisite Thai cuisine with a colonial façade.

Grand Palace

Bangkok’s Grand Palace surely lives up to its name since the palace complex consists of about 100 buildings. It was constructed in 1782 and served as a royal residence in the past.

Now, the royals use it for special ceremonies only and it is available for public tours most of the time (from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm) for 500 baht.

Grand palace and the buildings inside it are built as per traditional Thai architecture techniques, decorated with gold and diamonds. The palace’s center is the temple of Emerald Buddha I.e.

Wat Phra Kaeu, which holds significant importance in Buddhism community and Buddhists from all over the world visit the temple to pay their respects to the Emerald Buddha.

For an in-depth exploring of the palace since it is huge, you can also hire a guide when buying tickets. I have tips on visiting Grand Palace in addition to what to wear.

How to plan the perfect Bangkoks and Phuket itinerary. Phi Phi island and Krabi day trips

Wat Pho

When you are done exploring the grand palace, hire a ferry or simply walk towards Wat Pho – the temple of reclining Buddha since it is at a distance of ten minutes.

In this temple you will see the enormous (15m tall and 46m long) reclining Buddha plated with gold and ornamented with jewels, lying in the nirvana position.

Wat Pho is also the official school for teaching authentic Thai massage and Thai medicine. And when in Thailand, it is a must to get the relaxing Thai massage and there is no better place than this to get it.

Wat Pho is open every day from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm and the ticket costs 300 baht. If you feel hungry by now, there is a small eatery near Wat Pho, The Sixth, serving delicious Thai dishes. There are plenty of tours for Wat Pho that combine ferry, guide and other additions.

Wat Arun

Now take a ferry to visit Wat Arun, the temple of Dawn. This temple would leave you in awe; there is a majestic Khmer style tower in the center that has stairs.

Climb the stairs to reach the top and get a striking view of the city from up there. Visiting hours are 8.30 am to 6.00 pm and the ticket price is 100 baht.

How to plan the perfect Bangkoks and Phuket itinerary. Phi Phi island and Krabi day trips

Chinatown

The best way to spend your first night in Bangkok is roaming the streets of Chinatown. Located on the opposite side of Wat Arun, across the river, this place essentially wakes up when the sun sets down.

It is also one of the oldest areas in Bangkok, which means you will see old temples, buildings, markets, Cantonese style houses and narrow streets lined with stalls.

Chinatown is filled with upscale chic eateries as well as small stalls that serve delicious authentic Thai food. Some very famous food options are curry at Jek Pui Curry, Crab noodle soup at Odean, oyster omelet at Nai Mong Hoi Thod, duck noodle soup at Nai Mao Duck Noodle and traditional Thai desserts at Sweet Time. If you are in a mood for a drink or two, visit the rooftop bar of Sky View 360° Restaurant.

DAY 2 Bangkok

The second day in Bangkok would be all about shopping since there are a lot of markets and shopping malls in Bangkok.

Chatuchak Weekend Market

Chatuchak weekend market is the biggest market in the world and there is literally nothing that you cannot find here. With that said, also know that it is very easy to get intimidated by this place because it is huge, always crowded and hot and humid most of the time.

It is open on Saturdays and Sundays only. Head to this place as soon as you wake up. It is divided into 27 sections. The art section has great paintings and ornaments made by locals which would make great souvenirs.

There are many restaurants and food stalls in case you get hungry. However, don’t forget to try the infamous coconut ice-cream, Spanish paella and of course, Pad Thai.

Siam

If Chatuchak becomes too hot and crowded for you to handle, or you are not in Bangkok for the weekend, you can opt to go to Siam instead. Siam is the shopping hub of Bangkok.

Apart from having air-conditioned shops, local and international brands, restaurants and spas, each mall has a unique element of its own.

Siam Paragon shopping mall has South-east Asia’s largest aquarium, Central World has an ice-skating rink, Siam Center has televisions to display how an outfit would look on you without even wearing it, Siam Discovery has Madame Tussauds Wax Museum.

Near Siam Square, you will find Jim Thompson’s house, an American who significantly promoted Thai silk trade. His house is converted into a museum; there are a souvenir shop and a nice restaurant as well. 200 baht entry ticket also includes a Thai traditional dance performance in addition to the guide of the monument.

How to plan the perfect Bangkoks and Phuket itinerary. Phi Phi island and Krabi day trips

Asiatique Market

Bangkok has a lot of night exclusive-markets. Asiatique is a relatively new market that starts from 4pm until 12 am.

Here you will find souvenir items since this market was constructed to target tourists. There are many restaurants and pubs as well; and also, a Paris Wheel.

Bar With A View – Mahanakhon Bangkok SkyBar

Bangkok has an amazing nightlife option from nightclubs, bars, and restaurants with not only an amazing view but great food too.

My favourite though were the cool rooftop bars. Time Out has an amazing guide on rooftop bars in Bangkok if you need inspiration on where to hang out at night in Bangkok.

DAY 3 Damnoen Saduak Floating Market

Floating markets are very common in Southeast Asia, and there are many in Bangkok. Visit Damnoen Saduak Floating Market in the morning and start your day with the vibrant meals that vendors make while paddling the boat.

You should also try the exotic Asian fruits and vegetable, which you might have not seen before. Boats’ fare can range from 200 to 800 baht.

Lumphini Park

Lumphini Park is Bangkok’s biggest and greenest park. It is swamped by locals as well as tourists; to make the most out of this serene place amidst the metropolitan. Take a stroll over here in order to relax and unwind a bit.

How to plan the perfect Bangkoks and Phuket itinerary. Phi Phi island and Krabi day trips

Wat Saket

At 10 minutes’ drive, the Golden Mountain temple is located. It is named so because of its location, which is on top of a mall hill and you need to climb 344 steps.

On the way up to the temple, you would find small statues of smiling Buddhas and big bells. When you reach the top, you will be mesmerized by the view up there. Near Wat Saket, there is a restaurant called Thip Samai which quite famous for its Pad Thai.

Vertigo-Banyan Tree Hotel

Your last night in Bangkok calls for a rooftop drink. Vertigo and Moon bar is located on the 61st floor of Banyan Tree Hotel. Apart from world-class champagne, the place restaurant offers exquisite seafood items as well.

DAY 4 Phuket

Take a morning flight from Bangkok and spend your first day exploring Phuket and its culture. If you happen to start with Phuket but layover in Bangkok, check out my guide on things to do at Bangkok Airport.

Bang Tao Beach

Phuket is known for its beaches and resorts. Bang Tao Beach is one of the biggest beaches in Phuket. The water is pristine and the sand is clean.

The best part is, this beach is less crowded and quieter as compared to other beaches in Phuket. Hence, have your perfect sea-side morning on this beach. There are a few top-notch restaurants and resorts over here as well.

Old Phuket Town

Old Phuket Town has a rustic charm to it; you will love strolling down the colorful streets that are full of life and speak of Thailand’s vibrant culture. Thalang Road is lined with houses and shops from the 18th century, built-in colonial-Portuguese style.

You will find many art stores, coffee shops, and handicraft stores in Phuket old town. Bohemian Arthouse is a small and cozy café cum art gallery cum bookstore. Tu Kab Khao is a restaurant that has a Victorian façade and offers Southern Thai cuisine.

Siam Niramit

Siam Niramit is a Thai cultural performance; the show is 80 minutes long and consists of intricate sets, heavily-costumed actors and animals; that depicts Thailand’s traditional culture with reference to history.

You can also opt for the pre-shoe buffet; which has an extensive menu consisting of local and international cuisines. Tickets prices start from 1200 baht.

DAY 5 Phuket

Day 2 is all about adventures in Phuket. I have talked about unmissable experiences in Phuket here but below is additional inspiration and if you want to dedicate at least 5 days to Phuket alone then I have the perfect Phuket itinerary.

Phuket Freshwater Fishing Park

Phuket Freshwater Fishing Park has pretty big fishes in its waters and doesn’t matter if you have no experience with fishing, the staff would be more than happy to guide you and give you tips and tricks for catching an enormous fish. There is an on-site restaurant as well.

Flying Hanuman

If you are an adventure junkie, you would love zip-lining through the dense jungles of Phuket. Flying Hanuman offers various zip-lining packages, they are super popular with tourists so visit their website to have more information.

Windmill viewpoint

Nothing better than watching the sunset quietly on the island’s shore. Windmill viewpoint is a lesser-visited viewpoint which means you get to witness the sunset on Andaman sea in full romantic mode.

Pa Tong

Head to Pa Tong beach to have dinner at any of the chic restaurants that line it and you can spend your night there chilling at the beach.

You can take a stroll on the Bangla road which is famous for its nightlife. There are nightclubs and outdoor bars to enjoy the night with a drink or two.

DAY 6 Phuket

Visit the famous tourist spots in Phuket on day 3. If you are visiting Phuket for a honeymoon of looking for inspiration on the perfect couples guide to Phuket.

Bang Pae waterfall

Bang Pae waterfall is the largest waterfall in Phuket island. Going to this waterfall early in the morning can give you some freshness by acquiescing yourself to the mother nature. You can dip in the water; it is cold and clean and there are fish inside.

Upside-down House

Baan Teelanka is a major tourist attraction in Phuket island. It is a three-story house in which the furniture is installed upside down.

You might feel a bit dizzy but this place is a must if you want cool Instagram pictures. The entrance in the house costs 340 baht. There is a mall, central festival, at 8 minutes’ drive. You can go there to grab something to eat in the food court or for some retail therapy.

Big Buddha

Big Buddha statue is located on top of Nakkerd Hills, so you can hire an ACV bike to reach the statue. Later, you can head to Nakkerd sea-view restaurant which offers good food at affordable rates.

Chalong Bay Distillery

This place produces quality rum from 100% sugarcane using traditional techniques. You can join a tour to explore the place or take part in cocktail classes.

Monkey Hill

You might feel heavy after gulping down all the rum so why not burn it off by going to the monkey hill. You will find many monkeys who are used to getting fed. But be vigilant of your stuff as monkeys can take your belongings away in the blink of an eye.

Nam Yoi restaurant is located near the monkey hill which offers delicious Southern Thai food. Try their famous tom yum soup with seabass for dinner.

• Hike to the Phi Phi viewpoint which offers stunning views of the island.

• Diving is one of the most popular activities on Phi Phi islands. King Cruiser wreck and shark point are two famous diving points.

Bangkok to Phuket via bus: Note that this is a long trip! The Bangkok to Phuket bus fare is £29.68 and the journey is 14 hours! For that price I would recommend you just fly as the price for the bus and flight are not too far off. It is cheaper to fly to Phuket from Bangkok as you can easily get flights from £20.

Bangkok to Phuket by plane: You can easily fly from Bangkok to Phuket and the flights are only 1 hour and 20 minutes. Flight fare prices are from around £20 and you can find airlines like NokAir, ThaiVietAir, Air Asia and more flying that route on Omio or Expedia.

Bangkok to Phuket via ferry: There is currently no option for this as the two are on opposite sides of Thailand coastlines.

How to plan the perfect Bangkoks and Phuket itinerary. Phi Phi island and Krabi day trips

How Many Days In Bangkok and Phuket Is Enough?

So, how many days in Bangkok and Phuket is enough? Well if you consider that a flight from London is some 15 hours when you arrive, you will likely be tired and possibly jetlagged.

At a minimum, you will need at least 2 days for Bangkok and a day trip or tour just outside Bangkok to markets and other nearby temples on the outskirts.

Then, there is Phuket, from Bangkok its only 1 hour 2o minutes so easy to get to by plane. As far as how long you stay, I would recommend at least for days minimum.

Why? You will need a full day for the Phi Phi island tour, a day for the Phang Nga tour and then the other two days are for exploring the markets and Old Town of Phuket and then Patong and beaches.

I would say ideally best to do two weeks in Thailand and if possible extend to 3 and for inspiration see my post on 3 weeks in Thailand.

Looking for a guide for the best Phuket itinerary for 5 days, tips on things to do in Phuket in 3 days or even places to visit in Phuket in 4 days?

I got you! Exploring the ‘Pearl of the South’ as Phuket is sometimes referred to is a must when considering places to visit in Thailand.

With a long history, Phuket is rich in cultural history, tasty food filled with flavour from all those that have passed through the island.

Phuket has a vibrant nightlife making it a magnet not only for singles and those looking for cool places to visit in Phuket for bachelors and bachelorettes but also perfect for hopeless romantics looking for honeymooning hideaways or the perfect place for a couple to chill and relax.

The Phuket itinerary below, although a Phuket itinerary for 5 days, you can also cut it down to do 4 days in Phuket or even at a minimum spend 3 days in Phuket.

Phuket is a fairly large island with plenty of must-do activities in Phuket, so I would highly recommend at the very least 3 days on the island.

You will most likely want to do a day trip to the bays when you visit. This only leaves you 2 days to explore Phuket.

For those looking for what to do in Phuket for a week, this itinerary is perfect as it leaves you an additional 2 days to independently explore other corners of the island that are not included in the itinerary.

Also, visiting Phuket for a week means that you have plenty more time to explore the many amazing and pristine beaches in Phuket.

Phuket Travel Tip And Tips For Getting Around The Phuket

  • While using ATM in Phuket, remember that money comes first followed by the ejection of the card. Do not forget to collect your card in the hurry.
  • The credit cards are accepted in malls and restaurants. But for local expenses like taxis & bazaar, you will need local currency.

  • Booking a hotel in advance in the Phuket is often cheaper. You must choose your lodging at a point which is nearer to your planned visit spots. Patong (crowded) and Mai Khao Beach (quite) are two of the recommendations.
  • While moving around the Phuket, renting a car or bike is a much cheaper option. Read a local drive guide to avoid unnecessary accidents. Always make sure you have travel insurance coverage for your activities.

  • Suntans and Sunburns are quite common in the bright daylight of the Phuket. Always fancy sticking up some sunblocks to protect your skin.
  • Taxis are the a cheap transportation option but they turn on the meter. They will overcharge you as per their choice. Keep an eye on the meters, particularly if you are trying to do Phuket on a budget.

  • Tuk Tuks are a fair choice but ask for the price before starting the journey. It is not safe to ride on it by night. They are convenient and everywhere.
  • Water change often causes stomach upsets so stick to bottled water and ease into tap water slowly especially if staying in Phuket for a long period. Otherwise, stick bottled drinking water. Tap water is not recommended. However, ice is safe as they use filtered drinking water.

  • The temperature in Phuket is warm all around the year. It varies from WARM to TOO HOT. The best time to visit it is from December to March. September to October occupies the rainy season. April and May should be avoided as they are the hottest months.

  • Phuket Safety – Overall we felt pretty safe exploring Thailand and Phuket in general. In the markets, you just have to be wary of people trying to pull scams. Most of these tend to be somewhat obvious but just keep that in mind and some common sense and you will be fine. How To Get From Phuket International Airport To Old Town Or Hotels

  • If you arrive at Phuket International Airport then for your knowledge, it is situated 30-km north of Phuket Town.
  • You can travel there by Taxi which will charge you nearly 800 Baht. One option is to travel by shared minibus which costs around 600 Baht for 2 people.
  • Bus Schedule is quite fixed and is often reliable. Buses and vans can be spotted with orange “AirPort Bus” logo. The bus charges 90 Baht and takes 1:40 hours to drop you to the town. Vans take about 1:20 hours while charging 100 Baht for a ride. The trip from the airport ends at Bus Stop 7 at Phuket Bus Station 1 near Royal Phuket City Hotel or Phuket Bus Station 2 opposite to Super Cheap Store in the Town. There is no prior booking of the ticket.

Best Time To Go To Phuket On Holiday

Just like my home country Phuket, mainly has two seasons. The dry season and the wet season. The dry season starts from December to April.

The monsoon season is from May to October. The other in between are wet seasons before the monsoon really kicks in. The beauty of Phuket weather is that the temperatures even during the wet season remain consistent.

So what is the best time(month) to go to Phuket? The best time to visit Phuket is between November to February. We visited Phuket in December and the weather was perfect!

November – February – The weather is cool with manageable warmth perfect for sunbathing and exploring. Temperature is in the mid-20s but usually under 30°C. This is the busiest time in Phuket with most visitors to Phuket visiting during this time. Not surprising as this is this period offers the best weather to visit Phuket.

March – May – The weather is mostly hot but by end of may you are starting to see the start of the wet season. This is the hottest time in Phuket. Temperatures between March and Mary are in the 30s.

May – October – This is the wet season and monsoon season. Expect plenty of rain. There are some gaps in the rain with the temperature still above 25°C.

Where To Stay In Phuket

Regardless of budget, Phuket has something for everyone. As we were in Phuket for some time I managed to sample budget accommodation at Gold Diggers Resort, a mid-range priced hotels at Ikon Hotel and Luxury at Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa where we had our very own pool villa with stunning private beaches just meters from our villa.

I have linked to my post on all these places. Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa is located on the beautiful Mai Khao beach, perfect for those looking for a relaxing experience. Its also only 15 minutes from the airport.

I loved strolling on the beach at sunrise. This was my favourite place during our visit. There are a variety of accommodation options including Oceanfront Pool suites with their own private 18-square meter infinity pools.

For more on where to stay in Phuket, I have shared a guide on the best areas to stay in Phuket with details of the hotels in each of the beaches in Phuket.

Thailand is home to some of the most famous tourist spots in South Asia, beautiful places, cool cities and amazing islands, and this is a fact, from the likes of Koh Tao, Krabi, Koh Phangan, Koh Samui.

But, let face it, no trip to Thailand is complete without seeing Bangkok. Let us start the 3 week trip in Thailand with the very happening Bangkok scene in the first week of your 3 week Thailand trip.

Also, make sure you read up on things to know about Thailand before visiting.

Day 1

No 3-week tour of Thailand is complete without checking out Bangkok. The first day of exploring Bangkok, you can start with a visit to the Grand Palace.

The buildings and structures for diverse purposes and of differing styles, reflecting the changing architecture during the various reigns of the kings. Despite this, most of the buildings within adhere strictly to classical Thai architecture.

The Grand Palace is a must-visit spot on any 3 week trip to Thailand. It is located on the Na Phra Lan Road and is quite accessible.

Visitors will be able to view the war memorabilia of Thailand and the ornamental decor and items in use by the royalty. In the same complex, you will be able to come across the gorgeous Wat Phra Kaew Temple or the Emerald Buddha temple.

After this trip, you can go to Dusit Palace. The opulence of this white monument is just un-mistaken. The Dusit Palace was commissioned to be constructed by King Rama V after he returned from Europe.

Hence, the architectural style of this white marble palace spells European artistry everywhere.

The palace is open to the visitors from 9.30 am, and in order to get the tickets, you can consult the Grand Palace ticket office.

After these two grand palace visits, you can hop into one of the popular hangouts in the city center. For sunset, be ready to visit the Chao Phraya River coast and take in the breath-taking charm of the Wat Arun temple.

The temple with all the lights up twinkles in the dusk skyline and reflects magically on the waters of Chao Phraya river. A river cruise ride with dining is one of the must-dos on your visit in the city.

Day 2

The next day, you can begin on a more spiritual note with the visit to the Wat Arun temple early in the morning during sunrise.

Thousands of tourists and devout folk’s throng the Temple of Dawn and watch the marvelous temple at its morning glory

. The gilded spires and the 70-Meter high spire studded with stained glass decor add to the charm and beauty at any time of the day. It is necessary to dress modestly while visiting the temples.

Just on taking a boat from the Thien pier, you can reach another monument that will spell-bind you this trip to Bangkok.

The Wat Pho temple is a majestic temple, which is famous for its 46-meter long Reclining Buddha. The temple is located on the Sanamchai Road, and it is sure to offer you serenity like no other.

Next, on the trip, you can visit the Safari World or Ocean World depending upon your preference. These two places are worth your time and every minute you spend there, will be a great stress-buster.

Bangkok comes alive at the night, and this is not something that you were not aware. Thai massage parlors on one side, the risqué nightclubs all give a new lease of life to those who come to Bangkok for the same.

The Sukhumvit Road, the bars at Siam, Silom, and Thonburi are all going to bring out the party animal in you. There are rooftop bars hosting classic and absolutely stunning parties that you can never get tired of.

The last day can start with a trip to the Dreamland amusement park, or heading of the Old Town for some exploration on foot.

The Old Town has European architecture all around and has stores and markets aplenty to shop from.

If you feel that you have not had your fill of shopping, heading off to the Floating Market, or the bustling Chinatown is a great option.

Day 3: Travel To Chiang Mai

For the next three days, you can spend in Chiang Mai. Chiang Mai is a mountainous city located on the north of Thailand, and it will be a great diversity to discover here in terms of terrain.

The city has a great historical and cultural heritage with art and architectural evidence in the form of temples and ruins from the 14th century still existing there.

The first-day trip to Chiang Mai can be a visit in the Doi Suthep area. This is a mountainous area covering dense forests and waterfalls, growing across the ranges of high mountains.

Trekking through these forests with a guide and reaching the top for a stunning view is a great way to relax.

Other than that, a visit to the temple of Doi Suthep to visit the jaw-dropping beautiful architecture of the temple is something that you can think about later.

This trip will take a long time and so if after that, you still have the energy for more exploration or spending time close to nature, a visit to the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary can be on the list.

The ticketing office is located on the Tha Phae Road, and the trip will involve a safari through the jungle where you can spot rescued or orphan elephants in the wild.

There are various other such elephant camps as Patara, Mae Phing, and more to check out.  For tips on traveling to Chiang Mai from Bangkok check out this the post by Backpackers Wanderlust.

Day 4

Next day, you can visit the Old City of Chiang Mai. By now, you know the prevalence of Wats in and around Bangkok and in Chaing Mai, you will not find any difference.

The number of Wats you will come across in the Old City is also high. There are intricately designed temples or Wats like the Wat Phra Singh, which is by far, the most celebrated one.

It then comes the Wat Chedi Luang that is one of the oldest Buddhist temples once even housing the famous Emerald Buddha. Besides that, there is the Wat Sri Suphan with its shimmery coat of silver paint that gleams in the morning sun and in evening lights.

The night bazaar or market at Chiang Mai- Kat Rin Kham market, the Kalare Night Market, and others are great destinations for shopping for the local items. From mouth-watering local delicacies to more, these places will be worth the time.

Day 5, 6 7

The next-day trip across Chiang Mai can be through the local markets and other sights. A Saturday and Sunday Walking Market is a must visit, and if you love adventure trails, then visiting the local parks and going for nature trail experiences can be a great way to enjoy Chaing Mai like no other.

While in Chiang Mai you are also only a 3 hour drive to Chiang Rai. There are plenty of things to do in Chiang Rai, its also said to be much more relaxed than both Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Week 2 – Phuket And Island Hopping

Thailand has some of the best islands in the world and Phuket is up there among the best islands in Thailand and ones you have to visit.

If you feel that you are charged up at Bangkok with the exploration and partying, then straight away leave for Phuket.

It has many naturally beautiful spots and beaches that will take your mind of things. People visit Phuket primarily to relax and explore the many beaches and limestone rock formations on the beach and as Isles.

There are plenty of experiences not to miss in Phuket. Also make sure you choose the islands wisely if you have a longer time in Thailand or if backpacking in Thailand. That way you can maximise the time you have and not spend it all travelling on ferries.

Day 1

Try to grab a bowl of soup and noodles, or Khao Pad and Kai Yang Grilled Chicken two of the specialties here at Phuket before you begin your day and chill by many of the beaches surrounding Phuket Island.

Day 2

Start with a day tour to Phang Nga Bay. There are day trips to the deep caves here at the bay that is sure to give you goose bumps with their thrill factor.

The tour will include exploring the limestone caves that have stalactites and rock formation. James Bond Island is one such marvelous rock formation that gives a stunning view.

Day Three & Four

Chill on the beach or explore the markets of Phuket’s Old Town.  In the evening you can go to spend the night and party like crazy on the Bangla Road, while watching one of the shows playing currently or else dance and relish the happiness there.

The famous street of Soi Bangla remains closed for traffic from the evening onwards but that just won’t be a problem for those going here for the best Thai experience.

Day 5 Free Day

Enjoy the beacheas dotted around the island, have a massage or chill by the hotel pool.

Day 6 & 7

Head into the Chalong area where the Big Buddha Statue up to the Nakkerd Hills. The 45-meter high white Buddha idol up to the hill is great to view and on your descent from the Nakkerd Hills, you can stop by at the Karon Viewpoint.

Here, you can get a fantastic view over the bay curving ahead until the Phang Nga Bay. You can further take a boat to the Ko-Phi or Phi-Phi Island. You can check out Maya Bay, which gained fame after Leonardo Di Caprio movie, The Beach. (Sadly now closed indefinitely)

You can go diving and snorkeling from the Anemone Reef or the Shark Point and explore the underwater life of Phi-Phi islands.

Traveling to other islands like Viking Caves, Bamboo Island and even trying out everything from rock climbing to exploring caves, Phi Phi will not disappoint you.

From Phi-Phi island, there is boats and ferry services to the other equally destination that is Krabi Island.

Where To Stay In Phuket

For tips on where to stay in Phuket, I have a post on the best areas to stay in Phuket which includes tips on hotels for budget, mid-range and luxury budgets.

Week 3 – Krabi Islands and Koh Samui

As the penultimate leg of your Thai trip comes to a close, how about ending it on a memorable beach destination?

Krabi Islands is one of those parts around the world where you can still expect some serenity on the beach. The presence of more than one awesome beach is perhaps the reason for you to get that very necessary relaxation you have craved all your life.

Day 1 Krabi

Once you reach Krabi Islands, the first step is to book a boat that shall take you to Railay Beach. Though a little away from the city, it is definitely better at that way.

The Railay Beach has lush green landscape, amazing hilltops, and uneven landscape and the beach waters in its cerulean tones to mesmerize you.

You can spend an entire day here and then go back to your resort in Krabi. Likewise, you can spend the rest of the evening exploring the Krabi Town. Usually, the tourists spend an entire day exploring Railay Beach, and it is not surprising.

Day 2

The next day you can go to the Pak Bia Islands if you love white sandy beaches and more beach activities. The island is ideal for those willing to detox and relax or simply cannot have enough of the waters.

You can even take a boat and go back to Krabi Island. If you have time in hand, you can even try going to the Thung Teao Forest Natural Park and take snaps of the beautiful Emerald Pool.

Day 3

Your next day can begin with a trip to the dense forest of Khao Phra Bang Khram Natural Reserve adjacent to which there is the Klong Thom Hot Springs.

Tourists can just take a dip in these naturally therapeutic waters that have come out of volcanic rocks. Just 46 km from Krabi is a quaint little island called the Mu Koh Hong where you can camp and indulge in water sports like snorkeling and even dining on some of the sumptuous seafood.

Day  4    Koh Samui

After spending four days in Krabi and taking in all the sights and sounds, you can surely make your way to yet another scintillating destination on your trip.

That destination is the Koh Samui, and you have an option of taking a bus and ferry to go to this island from Krabi Islands. Likewise, a faster alternative is to go by air, which might take less than an hour but with a higher price tag.

Day 5

There are so many cool things to do in Koh Samui, but for the first day you can go to Chaweng from where you can take a thirty-minute cab to Koh Samui’s Big Buddha temple.

The temple is on a high altitude allowing you to get a bird’s eye view of the nearby places. You can then check out the Secret Buddha Garden where there are plenty of Buddha statues made of stone. Great spot to be in for a photographer!

Next stop can be the Wat Plai Laem temple that has an imposing statue of Guanyin, a goddess with eighteen arms. The massive size of this idol is something to take in with time and of course, the overall beauty of the temple’s environs will be awe-inspiring.

A visit to Koh Samui is incomplete without the day ending with shopping at the Chaweng Night Market from where you can shop for anything under the sky literally.

Day 6/7

Next day, take a ferry to the party islands of Koh Tao where you can spend the daytime diving or swim through the crystal-clear waters around the island.

Post sunset, the party begins and goes on till mornings and that is what makes the Koh Tao even more important. Another day trip can be to the Koh Phangan. You can go back to Koh Samui by ferry in as little as thirty minutes.

Not just islands and beaches, Koh Samui also has Na Muang Waterfalls and Ang Thong Marine Park for those who love nature at its pristine best.

As the trip concludes, you will surely have this feeling of wanting to visit the soulfully captivating country of Thailand again.

This is what makes Thailand all the more special and great in every way. I have left enough room in the itinerary if you wanted to switch it up and add Khao Sok National Park, Koh Lanta, Koh Phangan or Surat Thani which is easily accessible from Koh Samui.

Where To Stay In Thailand

As far as where to stay in Thailand during your 3 weeks Thailand itinerary really depends on your budget and preferred comfort levels. I shared where we stayed in Bangkok in addition to providing a guide on the best areas to stay in Bangkok. I did the same for Phuket where I shared a guide on areas to stay in Phuket but also shared tips on the best hotels in Phuket for all budgets.

We sampled a couple of places in Phuket at low, mid and luxury budgets which have all ben documented on the blog. By far my favourite website to book my hotels is Booking.Com  as well as Hotels.Com which had some great January travel discounts. One of the reasons I love Booking.com is that you can book hotels in advance and still be able to cancel them if your plans change.

So you can book your hotels for Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui in advance but should you should to add say Chiang Rai or another Thai city you can change your booking.com easily on their site but for travellers they also have a great mobile app that I find really handy to use on the move. For additional tips on where to stay in Chiang Mai, check out Treksplorer.

What To Pack For A Trip To Thailand | 3 Weeks In Thailand – What To Pack

So, what to take to Thailand for 3 weeks? Thailand is a pretty tropical country so even in the rain season, you will find that it clears quickly and before you know it, the weather is good enough to lounge on the beach. For tips on what to pack for Thailand, check out  Wandering Quinn.

Planning A Trip To Thailand | 3 Weeks In Thailand Costs

So we are now on to how much money to take on the ultimate Thailand vacation. As I mentioned above when it comes to hotels it really depends on your preference on comfort. You will be glad to know that there are plenty of amazing places to stay from hostels to luxury hotels and villas that won’t break the bank. Food is also super cheap too as you have your pick from tasty street food to lux Michelin star restaurants.

Your flight will mainly be the most costly of expenses for the trip to Thailand. Hotels can be as cheap as £20 a night. For budget hotels in Phuket check out my review of Gold Diggers Resort and for mid range check out my post on Ikon hotel and for something more in the Luxury hotel market we also stayed at Renaissance Hotel in Phuket.

To estimate your hotel expenses I would recommend using the above Thailand itinerary and then costing the hotel nights in each city for the type of hotel you prefer. Once you do that I would then suggest you cost at least one whole day tour in each city. So for Phuket, we enjoyed 2 island hopping day trips which saw us exploring Phang Nga Bay as well as James Bond Island the various activities included in that.

Most of these tours will range from £30 and up depending on activities included. Again I have included a couple of tours for inspiration but also check out Viator Tours for more.  You can easily budget for £100o for your trip after your flight. If you stay in reasonably priced accommodation, factor in tours, transport and food and you could do that on a budget. For a more mid-range budget to lux you are looking at £2-3k+.

Travel package to Thailand

If you are one of those that prefers everything to be arranged and know the budget of the trip then maybe consider looking at 3-week travel package to Thailand. Contiki tours do amazing package trips to Thailand as well as multi-country package tours to Asia. The guarantee plenty of fun as you take to your Thailand 3 weeks backpacking trip. Also, GAdventures and Exodus Travels do amazing package tours to Thailand and Asia.

Getting Around In Thailand

So, if you are one of those thinking “is 3 weeks in Thailand enough“, hope the above gives you an idea of just how much exploring you can do in as well as an inkling to how much money to take to Thailand for 3 weeks.  The other element I wanted to include is that of getting around between the islands and the cities.

We flew from Bangkok to Phuket and then used ferries between islands. Flights you can easily book with Expedia or directly with Air Asia. Our sites between cities were not more than £50 return so if you are buying one way expect even less but also look out for additional luggage charges so pack wisely.

Thai Trip Planning Q1. What’s a Good Itinerary For 1 Week or 2 Weeks in Thailand?

If you only have one week in Thailand I would strongly suggest doing 3 days in Bangkok, 2 days exploring and 1-day floating marking. Then one of the islands for beaches temples and relaxing. Phuket I would say needs a minimum or at least 3-4 days in Phuket because you are going to use up one of those days for day trip to Koh Phi Phi islands. If you have 2 weeks then I recommend adding Chiang Rai,  Krabi or Koh Samui. Again, having lots of exploring time and then islands for relaxation and island hopping.

Thai Trip Planning Q2. When Is The Best Time To Visit Thailand?

Ideally, any time is great as the weather in Thailand is tropical and tends to be warm all year round but I don’t like traveling during the rainy season especially if your main trip is all about beaches. I would see the best times to visit Thailand is around December, November, and January.

Thai Trip Planning Q3.  What Is The Best Itinerary For 5 Days In Thailand?

My advice here is similar to the question on what to do in Thailand for one week. Do maybe 2 days in Bangkok, one full day or even 2 full days of exploring. If you do one day in Bangkok and then a day trip to the floating market. Then book your flights in advance for Phuket, Koh Samui or any other destination of your choice in Thailand. Make sure you also book your tours in Bangkok or tours in Phuket in advance. Also, make sure you book your flights out of Bangkok to Phuket in Advance so everything is set for your trip to Thailand. One of the cheapest airlines with plenty of flights in Thailand and heading to Cambodia, Vietnam and surrounding countries is Air Asia. You can book flights in advance via Expedia just like we did. Tickets tend to be in the region of £50 for a return.

Thai Trip Planning Q4. What’s the best itinerary for Thailand with children?

Many of the cities in Thailand cater to family holidays. There are hotels for both budget and luxury that cater to those wanting to travel to Thailand with Children. While it was just myself and my boyfriend for this trip many of the places we visited can be explored with children. Many of the tours we did in Phuket had children on them. If you are able to you can also have your own private family longboat for you and your family. They are not expensive and it means that you can do your Thailand itinerary with some parts that include children’s activities. There is the Trick Eye Museum and Upside Down House in Phuket which is a hit with children. Many of the island hopping tours are also just as great and suitable for kids too.

Thai Trip Planning Q5. Whats The Best Itinerary For A Couple Visiting Thailand

As I mentioned above it was myself and my boyfriend on this trip so I guess that counts as couples visiting Thailand. My advice for couples when you plan your trip to Thailand or if you are planning on spending time in Phuket, pick places that allow you to have plenty of privacy. Like an apartment, or a villa. I shared in a post on our private villa in Phuket, or you can also pick from the many amazing hotels that come with private beaches vs public beaches. I have also shared a post on the best areas to stay in Phuket to help you narrow things down. Another thing that some couple might consider in their island hopping for their trip to Thailand is renting their own long boat tour.

There you have it, a perfect 3 week Thailand itinerary. Is there any other place you would have included?
