Only have 5 days in Paris? No problem below is a Paris itinerary for 5 days. Get tips on day to day activities, unmissable places to visit in Paris, best viewpoints, cafes, food tours and where to stay in Paris. Making planning a trip to Paris super easy and effortless and also perfect for Paris first time visitors.

Paris is a city for romantic hearted! Perhaps, the most appropriate quote that anybody has ever said has to be by American writer, Ernest Hemingway, “If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go through the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.”

Where else in the world can you watch the world go by as you sip your coffee at one of the many outdoor cafes overlooking the grand Eiffel Tower? Sounds dreamy?

Well, that is exactly what Paris aims to do to your heart and soul. It stirs up the romance in your heart while singing out to your soul from ancient times.

The city by itself has its quirky amalgamation of modern art trying to be “on-the-face” and there is also the silent presence of ancient art and architecture.

Reaching Paris is easy because it has three international airports, the most famous one being Charles de Gaulle’s airport.

As the capital of France, Paris has a great network of train and roadways, helping you to travel to the city and even to the towns and other equally gorgeous cities in France.

From the metro to the bus to regional railways, Paris is well connected. I have also shared a 10-day itinerary for London, Paris and Amsterdam which gives you one itinerary covering 3 citites and includes everything from what to see and do in Paris, London and Amsterdam but how to get from London to Paris and Paris to Amsterdam.

A 5 Day Paris Itinerary

A visit to Paris is a must! Below is the perfect Paris itinerary for 5 days to get you exploring and making the most of the city.

There is plenty of room for exploring at leisure. All you need is to make sure you pack comfortable clothing and shoes for the time of year you are visiting Paris.

I will shortly be share tips on what to pack for Paris in winter. Below are tips on things to do in Paris at night as well as day time in Paris. If you prefer a private touch in Paris you can also opt for your own guide.

Day 1 In Paris – Effiel Tower, Louvre, Trocadero, Palais Royal & Gardens

Of course, the first place anyone wishes to visit on his or her visit to Paris is the Eiffel Tower. The 324-meter high iron tower has two levels and then the top summit.

You can get advance tickets for the Eiffel Tour Summit. The first level is the most popular one at a height of 58 meters. There are restaurants here, and tourists can go to 58 Tour Eiffel and even dine at the fancy restaurants like Le Jules Verne.

Reserving a table in advance will be helpful. There is an elevator taking a tour to the top level too.

The best time to visit the tower is morning if you wish to have an aerial view over the city all around. The evening is the time you can opt for if you are just aiming to visit the gorgeous all-lit tower.

Near the Eiffel Tower is Trocadero which offers amazing views of the city and the Eiffel Tower. A pro tip if you want pictures without crowds in them is to head there at sunrise!

I shared some of my pictures of the best sunrise spots in Paris on the blog.

Next place that you can and must-visit is the Louvre museum. One of the must-visit is this massively impressive museum, which houses around all the top artists of the Renaissance and other such times.

From the most famous Mona Lisa to the Venus de Milo, to the Raft of the Medusa, to sculpture and internationally acclaimed paintings, the museum has it all. Queues can be extremely long so make sure you have a skip the line ticket for the Louvre.

Day 4 In Paris – Where To Stay In Paris

On the next day, pack up your bags and travel from London to directly Paris via the Euro Star train. This is the only direct train which will allow you to reach Paris in about 2 and a half hour.

You also have easy access to the metro taking you into many of the Paris hotels with views of the Eiffel Tower.

I have also used Airbnbs in the city so the options are plenty depending on your budget. The metro in Paris is also easy to use and many of which are beautiful and uniquely decorated. I shared a couple in my post on Paris in black and white.

After settling in, walk the neighborhood and do a little exploration to relax and freshen yourself after travelling for the day. If you need something to do for the evening go and grab a drink at the many bars and restaurants in Paris with a view.

Days 8-10 In Amsterdam – (How To Get From Paris To Amsterdam)

How To Get From Paris To Amsterdam

The final city in the 10-day itinerary for London, Paris and Amsterdam is of course Amsterdam. Below are tips on things to see and do as well as the best way to travel from Paris to Amsterdam.

Travel between Paris and Amsterdam is super easy and doesn’t take that long.

There are plenty of options for trains and really cheap compared to train travel in London and the UK.

You can book your train tickets between Amsterdam and Paris but this is not always as necessary as booking the London and Paris train tickets.

The beauty of the trains in Europe is that they are cheap and reliable making it easy to combine Paris and Amsterdam trip as part of an extended itinerary. If you have longer in Europe you can also grab tickets on Eurail and explore with ease.

Day 8-9 In Amsterdam

On the 8th day, you will be packing your bags and travelling to your last and final destination; Amsterdam. The best way to go to Amsterdam from Paris is via train as it is the cheapest and comfortable travel source.

Take the train map from the station and find the earliest train to the capital of the Netherlands. You Amsterdam and Paris trip is super easy.

When planning your trip you can also do these the other way round as train travel in Europe is a lot cheaper and easier than that of London.

You don’t necessarily have to do Paris, London, Amsterdam vacation package either as self-planning can be easily done.

After arriving in the morning, you will have plenty of time to relax and do a light exploring of the neighborhood. Visit the Jordaan and its surrounding galleries, shops and boutiques.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Museumplein from where you can go back to your staying place. Then after some snacks, travel to Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh museum and the Stedelijk Museum.

These are just some of the most amazing museums in Amsterdam not to miss. Spend an hour or half in all these places and then have dinner at a good hotel near your staying place.

If you want a unique dining experience I shared a post on The Dylan’s High Wine experience which has amazing food paired with even more amazing wine. If you are visiting later in the year make sure you also check out my post on things to do in Amsterdam in winter.

For additional things to do on day 9 I also shared a post on romantic things to do in Amsterdam but includes plenty to do if you are not on a romantic break with a partner.

If you are a lover of food also check out my post on eating your way through Amsterdam which includes a cruise on the canal in Amsterdam

Day 10 In Amsterdam

Since it will be your last day in Amsterdam so try to explore as much as possible. Start from the Anne Frank house which is famous due to a woman who lived there secretly from the Nazis.

During her stay there with her family, she wrote a diary which is now very famous.

Explore the bookcase that moves and covers the entrance of the rooms. Then moving forward, you can visit the Canal and tour it and lastly the Vondelpark which is Amsterdam’s biggest park. Stroll here and you can visit the art museums located near to it.

There is so much to explore so if you have some time left in the night you can visit many more famous places such as Dam square and the Nine little streets.

Get to experience the local food cuisines at famous hotels, cafes and bars during your exploring as eating food of the locality is a great way to know about the culture and traditions of the place.

Then have a good night sleep and pack your bags for home. If you have an addition day in Amsterdam there are plenty of day trips from Amsterdam you can check out.

If you are a lover of all things tulips, Keukenhof tulip-festival is worth checking out. Read more from Ach & Rym

Where To Stay In Amsterdam

For tips on where to stay in Amsterdam, I have a detailed post on how to choose the best area to stay in Amsterdam. Where you are visiting and want to stay near tourist sights or want to be near markets, galleries or nightlife in Amsterdam.

Alternative Itineraries For London Paris & Amsterdam

If you don’t have 10 days you can also opt to do London, Paris Amsterdam in one week or also do a London and Paris itinerary in 6 days.

You can do 2 days in each city and then one day would be eaten up by travel and chill time between travel from one city to the other. So you can condense your trip into a week for sure.

Another alternative

You can also opt to do London Amsterdam then Paris or even starting your by way of a Paris, London and Amsterdam. Where you start will very much depending on where you land first and where you happen to get the best travel deal tickets.

EuroStar now runs new options to travel from Amsterdam to London and the other way round. As I mentioned above, if you only have one week, you can also opt to do tours to Amsterdam from London and some of these can also be a day trip to Amsterdam from London.

Again you have to book these early. The cheapest way to go from London to Amsterdam is usually by plane by I have found that if you land in London and then take the train to Paris and then on to Amsterdam is a much more enjoyable trip with less crazy airport security also less worry about baggage limits

There you have it, the perfect way to maximise your exploring time on a London, Paris and Amsterdam itinerary.

There are plenty of tours on Viator as well as Get Your Guide to not only help you get your bearings around the city but also make the most of your time.

Spring in Europe? Here’s the Ultimate List of Items to Travel Europe in Style

Spring in Europe? Here’s the Ultimate List of Items to Travel Europe in Style - The perfect packing list for Europe in spring #packing #carryon #2weeksineurope #traveltips #packingtips #spring #summer #outfits

If you are planning a trip to Europe then this packing list for Europe in spring is up your alley. Usually, the holiday destinations are tropical or warmer climates. Holidaying is Europe is completely different because Europe is diverse, both in its climate and fashion. From the sunny beaches of Ibiza in Spain to the cold weather of Edinburgh, Scotland, travel across Europe requires carefully planned itinerary and packing. What To Pack For Europe In Spring & Travel Planning Tips

The Happy Wanderer

Now that you have finally booked your tickets for that Europe tour that you have been planning for years, and decided on the sights you are going to visit, and taken care of things like making Airbnb bookings, you must be eager to set off on your journey. But there’s just one thing more to do before you take off on your dream Europe trip; you need to pack!

Packing… Urgh!

Well, if it’s any consolation, packing is one of the most hated chores worldwide. Unless you are Marie Kondo, no one likes the idea of folding clothes and placing them properly in the luggage. Be sure to also use the best luggage for Europe when traveling the continent.

Luggage: Put Wheels on It!

Before you embark upon this dream vacation to Europe, you need to select the kind of luggage you will bring along. You can either go for a backpack or a suitcase. Backpack can strain your back and shoulders and take all the fun out of exploring as you are left tired and cranky. Opt for a suitcase which is easier to organize, especially a soft-shell one that can accommodate more stuff and is crack-proof (we all know how freight is handles at the airports)!

Whirling around Europe in Style

Add a style buzz to your Europe trip by choosing the right kind of clothing. We all start packing with the intentions of packing light and as we go along, things spiral out of control and we end up with huge, bulky luggage.

To ensure your trip is not burdened by a heavy suitcase, mix and match your outfits and take along style items that you can create multiple looks with! For day trips and exploring around the city, you will also need a small bag to fit in all your accessories.

A Chic Adventure

For tops, take along a mix of tees, blouses, and shirts. A long-sleeved shirt can be used in multiple ways; sleeves rolled up for warmers days and rolled down for colder nights. European weather is always changing; you will step into an old castle as the sun smiles down upon you and step out into a blitz of rain as the tour comes to an end an hour later.

So, never forget to take along a nice, easy-to-carry jacket or a windbreaker. Never forget to pack an elegant and dressy outfit, because you never know where the road might lead you!

A Top-Down Approach

A dark pair of jeans is a must have! From casual, travel hippie look to being paired up with a chiffon blouse for a stylishly refined look, dark jeans is your best friend on a European tour. Capris and skirts also bring versatility to your travel wardrobe while leggings are a handy accessory for colder nights.

Add Swagger to your Walk

First things first; never ever bring along new shoes for a tour. Trip across Europe means diversity of terrain and extended time spent on foot. You need your most comfortable pair of shoes. Go for a comfy pair of sneakers or walking shoes and a pair of sandals for warmer days.

You might want to throw in a pair of flip flops for those sandy beaches, or just to recline in your poolside chair and relax!

Amp it Up!

Accessories can make or break an ensemble. You can spice up your look, or even create a completely new one with the same outfit, by choosing the right kind of accessories. Pack lightweight and stylish necklaces, rings, and earrings that are travel friendly.

A vivid, patterned scarf can strike all the right chords of style, while sunglasses are practical, yet stylish fashion accessory. You will also need your undergarments, including at least one complete set of active wear and a swimsuit. A handy makeup kit is essential to capture those insta-worthy vacation pics.

Watch it Closely!

While a smartphone is your one-stop-shop for essentially everything, a smart watch like Apple or Samsung Gear can make your traveling experience a lot more fun.

Travel Smart

While we are at smart gadgets, the foremost is a smart SIM card with an affordable data plan, so you stay connected on-the-go. If you don’t want to be distracted by the smartphone, opt for tablet which is much less of a diversion than easily accessible smartphone in your pocket!

Tablets are also good for book lovers who can easily read e-books, instead of lugging around paperbacks. The worst nightmare on a trip is a fried device. As the European power outlets are different, it is advisable to bring along a voltage converter.

Say Cheese

You want to make your Europe visit memorable. Capture as many images as you want with Instax® SQUARE SQ20 by FujiFilm to preserve your European trip memories forever.

Your Ticket out of here!

While the ancient explorers relied on stars and needles of the compass, you should pack your travel guide and download all the maps you might need out in the wild! Last but not least, ensure your travel documents are complete and in proper order to make your flight check-ins hassle free.

How To Get To Paris| Eurostar & Flight Travel

We are totally spoiled for choice these days as there are so many ways to travel these days. These days international flights costs are not too far from budget lefts.

You can easily get international flights to Paris on WOW air, Norwegian Air for well under $300 and if you are in Europe, getting to Paris couldn’t be easier.

In Europe, you also have the option of getting the Interrail Pass to travel between European countries by train.

From London, we have the Eurostar which allows you get to Paris for £65 return. We also have RyanAir, Easyjet, British Airways, Vueling all doing frequent flights to Paris with prices that don’t break the bank. Check out Kayak and Momondo for flight deals.

How To Get from Gard du Nord to Centre of Paris

Straight from the Eurostar trains, you have access to the Paris Metro only a view meters away. The metro system in Paris is fairly easy to navigate. There are ticket machines to by day, 48hour or weekly tickets. A single ticket costs €1.90 and allows unlimited travel and transfer within the Metro for up to 90 minutes.

You can also make one transfer between Metro and RER (the ticket is valid until you exit a Metro station). The Metro and RER share the same stations, so you don’t need to exit the Metro to transfer to the RER. You can save money by purchasing a carnet of 10 tickets for €14,50 from vending machines near the turnstiles in Métro stations.

Weekend Paris View by way of my Paris Airbnb with views of The Eiffel Tower. What a way to introduce the blog to the new year. Happy 2017! I hope you are all doing fabulous. It’s been a little quiet on the blog due to being busy with work and travelling between London and Oxford.

Perfect Paris Views | My Paris Apartment with views of Eiffel tower

Hopefully, this will now settle down as I now have an apartment in Oxford, which makes life a little easier with travel while I finish my Formula 1 project. In my last post, I shared a yearly review of travel and adventures from 2016. The travel adventures continue even though I had to cancel a trip to Milan and Lugano, this year still killed off with a trip to Lisbon in January and then February saw a trip to Florence. More pictures of those trips to come soon.

Paris apartment views don’t get any better than this, that’s for sure. I thought I would share pictures of the beautiful apartment I rented in my last visit to Paris. Paris is well known for its beautiful balconies and this little beauty I rented didn’t disappoint. I booked it via Airbnb and shared a couple ofreasons to use Airbnb when you travel.

During this visit, I travelled with a couple of photographer friends and one of them took the portraits of me below. The views were perfect, such a shame that my fiancé with on this trip but it was a treat to have Laku Davies create magic on the lens! I absolutely love these shots. We have since been Lisbon together so I can’t wait to share her pictures with you.

This beautiful little apartment featured a beautiful balcony and the most amazing view of the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. Trocadero is only a stone’s throw so you know I we had to make a stop over there for some sunrise shots.

It’s has been a while, as the weather is now starting to make an improvement towards beautiful sunrises and sunset, I may have to swing back to Paris this year for a couple of shoots. Until then I will leave you some of my Eiffel Tower shots, some of which were taken from my very own Parisian balcony.

The Perfect Weekend Bags For Men and Women

August 12, 2016 by admin 9 Comments

Being a travel blogger, I guess I don’t need convince you of the fact that I travel a lot. Working as a consultant also means I travel for much of my projects so having the perfect weekend bag for short or quick getaway is a must. Currently making the weekly rounds between London and Harry Potter’s playground in beautiful Oxford. I hope my recent weekend trips to Paris, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Edinburgh, the English countryside and many other European cities have served inspiration for you to pack your bags and head for a little break. With the right weekend bag one can quickly hop on out of the city for a little weekend R&R with minimal packing effort.

Those weekend trips are all about maximising the time you have for play on your getaway, and doing so means reducing the time you have to check in at airports or dragging around big bags. You want to be able to pack a carry-on and go from work to play in about as little time as it takes Lewis Hamilton to get from 0-60! That means having a weekend bag perfect for a carry-on-only getaway. Who doesn’t need an escape from the weekday grind? The Catalina weekender by Lo and Son is perfect for skipping the check-in desk and heading straight to departures. This little baby comes in a few shades but being a lover of all shades of blue, I went for Indigo, but there are a few more colours in the range if blue doesn’t get your wanderlust flowing. Reasons to love this weekender?

What Makes The Perfect Weekender Bag?

1. Compartment

iPad/kindle sleeve and room for any other gadgets you might want to tuck in there. My favourite is the compartment at the bottom, which you can use to separate any used, dirty clothes from your getaway as well as use it to separate shoes from clothes. I have sometimes used this compartment to separate clothes from all my other gadgets I travel with. All my camera accessories, GoPro, nano pods go at the bottom while clothes go in the main bag.

2. Washable

How many times have you spilled shampoo or conditioner or make-up in your luggage. I love that you can quickly throw this in the machine and have it spanking new again.

3. Simple Design

and fits so much in it. I am all about minimal packing for the weekend getaways so, I was super surprised and thankful of how much you can put into this bag. Also, perfect for those that want to do long term trips with just a carry-on. You can get so much in there!

4. Easily Customisable

This is something I haven’t done yet but I think the material is perfect to have a customised embroidery done on it. I may look into it and update this post once I get it done. Or possibly get the iron-on design with a travel quote or something. #watchthisspace
I love a bag that is both functional and super light! It definitely ticks all the right boxes for a weekender. Another plus is that you can easily roll it up on your luggage as additional luggage.

Below I have also provided a few altnerative covering weekend bag with wheels, both designer weekend bags and more economically priced brands. So whether you are after a weekend bag for men or women or if you are looking to get a weekend bag for lady or man in your life below are a few perfect alternative.

Paris | The Colours of La Defense

With the Eurostar only 30mins away from me I am surprised I don’t do Paris every other weekend. You can check out my posts on some of my previous adventures in Paris. On this trip we also managed to take a trip to explore La Defense. La Defense in Paris is a major business district. I would liken it to London’s Canary Wharf and because it’s there are mainly offices there, tourists tend to not go there so much. Unless you are into architecture photography that is. Don’t cross it off because you assumed there is nothing to see there. It offers great views into Paris. You can see the Eiffel tower from La Defense. You can also see right through Arc de Triomphe from La Defense. The architecture is beautiful here, not to mention that because it’s a business hub, there are many places to eat and shop to cater to those working and spending a majority of their time in this location.

La Defense is also the site of the Grande Arche, one of Paris’ modern and imposing landmarks. This was the place the Charles de Gaulle concentrated skyscrapers, rather than changing the character of the Parisienne buildings with large and modern commercial buildings. Many of Paris’ tallest buildings can be found here.

If you are a lover of modern art then you will love the remarkable pieces of modern art in this part of Paris. The business district of La Defense as small as it is it boasts 40 statues, sculptures, and monuments in its 400 acres. One monument that sticks out is the beautifully colourful tower called Cheminée Moretti or simply Le Moretti. This is a 32-meter high chimney composed of 672 colourful strands of fiberglass tubes. Running at a total length of 22km in 19 different colours. I haven’t been in La Defense at night but apparently once the floodlights at the top a lit, it allows the colours of the chimney to be reflected on surrounding buildings. For More on cool places to add to your Paris Itinerary check out The Daily Adventures Of Me.

Getting there: It’s the last stop on line one but can also be reached via line A of RER.

Where to stay in La Defense:
Pullman Hotel, Renaissance, Mercure, Novotel, and Movenpick. All located in La Defense.

Places to eat in La Defense: There are plenty of places to eat not to mention that each of the hotels mentioned above will also have a restaurant and bars to entertain the many people who visit this district for work.

Where to stay in La Defense: There are quite a few buildings with corporate organizations so as you may guess with some hotels nearby. To find places to stay in Paris or La Defense check out my favourite booking site; Booking.com.

It’s not too far from the city so if you are in Paris and looking for a new vantage point to see the city, definitely check it out.

Cafe Deli-Cieux - Paris Rooftop Cafe With Views

Who would dare say no to a quick brunch with 360° of Paris? No one! On my last trip to Paris before heading out to Australia my boyfriend and I decided on a weekend visit to Paris before I disappeared off to Australia for two weeks.

Having skipped breakfast in the morning it wasn’t long before we needed a caffeine break from exploring Paris’ beautiful streets. What was to be a quick stop at Printemps turned out to be a long brunch as the views on Printemps Rooftop Terrace are just breathtaking. Right in the heart of Paris you can get a bite to eat, drink and have the best view in town and all 360° of it.

From Printemps’  Le Deli-Cieux Rooftop Terrace Cafe you can see Montmartre, Eiffel Tower, Opera de Garnier. If you haven’t been to Au Printemps then it’s high time you added it to your list. It’s pretty big, taking up about 5 buildings with an endless list of designer levels set on 6 storeys of the building.

From Women’s Fashion to Men’s and everything you can possibly need for your house, cat and dog all housed in this beautiful spot in the city. With a rambling stomach and major pangs for coffee, shopping was far from my mind.

It was breezy and cold but with the sun out it offered just enough warmth to bear. With Parisian icons in almost every direction its a shame and a treat at the same time that not many tourists know about this place.

Next time you are in Paris, be sure to add a quick visit to Au Printemps for a quick tea or coffee with a view to match when you next visit Paris. The beauty of this place is that it offer a viewing platform of the city all without having to pay for it. Unless of course you are getting some food in the rooftop cafe. Either way its well worth the trip to the top.

Au Printemps Rooftop Terrace Address:  9th Floor of the home and beauty building, 64 boulevard Haussmann 75009 Paris
