Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

The last post in the ‘Jet Set Ready With…‘ series is in collaboration with Cynthia of SimplyCyn. This New York based jet-setter-blogger-attorney is one travelista that is packed with style as she trots around the globe in effortless chic attire. So, of course I wanted to know how she manages to look so stylish with her long haul travels crossing over the Atlantic, as if she pack the best stylists in her suitcase! Below Cynthia was quizzed on her beauty and travel style secrets. Hope you enjoy the insider deets as much as I did.

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?

I binge on travel mags and blogs trying to make sure I’ve captured all the necessary elements of my itinerary. I’ve had many friends tell me it sounds like work, but there’s really nothing more fun for me than the planning stages (besides maybe the actual trip).

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?

I have 2 simple rules, a good moisturizer and no makeup.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?

Anything light and citrusy. I love Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit

4. What’s your favourite beauty treatment?

A mani -pedi. Once the nails are done, I just feel a lot more put together.

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?

A big part of why I travel is to try foods from around the world. With that in mind, I’m much more mindful right before a trip and try to avoid fried or heavy meals. Also, I make sure to get in a lot of walking once I get to my destination to counter all the food I eat.

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?

I usually go straight from airport to hotel, where I take a shower, slather on moisturizer ( I love Origins GinZing Energy boositng Moisturizer) and a little-tinted lip balm (burts bees) and eyeliner go a long way.

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?

Korres was not as prevalent in the US 6 years ago during my honeymoon in Santorini, it was there that I discovered Korres products which I love and continue to use today.

8. Does your skin care routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are  traveling to?

Summer travel often comprises of mattifying moisturizers and primers (I currently love Becca Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, almost as good and affordable is Rimmels Stay matte) as well as SPF- I loveJosie Maran Argan daily moisturizer SPF 47. In the winter I want to make sure my dry skin doesn’t get any dryer so I pack body butters like C. Booth Honey & Almond Butter.)

9. What has been your go-to style when travelling? (i.e stick to classics, bold and beautiful, experiment with style more when you travel or comfort before style?)

Not mutually exclusive- I like to find comfortable but stylish outfits. I definitely stick to more classics, but I throw in a few unexpected items just in case. I also love to shop my destination, so a lot of my travel style ends up being dictated by what I find in the shops.

10. Any packing tips?

Yes, less is more. Pack multi-purpose clothing. The white shirt that can be worn many ways, with or without jewelry, with or without scarf. use jewelry and accessories to make your travel wardrobe seem bigger than it is. I am also getting in using packing cubes to save space in my suitcase.

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With…Codie At CodieKinz

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...
We all have those countdowns to the holiday, don’t we? Planning what we are going to pack, getting the names, done, haircut and in some places waxed or shaved! Yep, we all do so this week I have had two bloggers take us through their jet-set ready plans. This third installment to the ‘Jet Set Ready With‘ series with bloggers this week with one more to go this Sunday with Simply Cyn.

This time we have Codie Kinz sharing how she gets ready for vacations and mini getaways. I love Codie’s honest and relaxed way of getting ready and not putting too much focus on the getting ready part and more on the fun of exploring. I can so relate as on some trips I just want to get up and go with no fuss. Hope you enjoy it. Don’t forget to share how you get ready in the comments below.

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?

I’m pretty low-maintenance to be honest. I make sure I’ve shaved my legs and ‘pits, and that’s pretty much it aside from the usual. I also craft some fun, themed accessories, which was obviously amazing for our recent Disneyland trip!

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?

I use a lot of moisturiser to make sure my face doesn’t get dried out on the flight (I tend to use Simple moisturiser because it feels great!) and then I’ll use BB cream, rather that foundation to give me just a little coverage. Then just a bit of mascara, not eyeliner because I always fall asleep on ‘planes.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?

Lady Gaga – Fame

“I recently had a Lush ‘Comforter’ Treatment, and I don’t think anything will ever feel as good!”

4. What’s your favorite beauty treatment?

I’m a big massage fan, in addition, hunting out spa deals! I don’t get them very often but when I do, I feel the benefits for ages afterward. I recently had a Lush ‘Comforter’ Treatment, and I don’t think anything will ever feel as good!

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?

I try not to put a lot of holiday pressure on being ‘beach ready’, especially as we don’t do a lot of beach holidays, we like to explore! But, I do like to do the Bootea Teatox a few times during the year to help detox.

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?

I don’t really have anything specific. I’ll give my hair a bit of a joosh (is that even a word?!), and touch up my makeup, maybe use some Vaseline if my lips are feeling dry, and then I’m good to go!

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?

I collect hotel minis! We have a little basket in our bathroom that we call out ‘Guest Basket’, so that people can help themselves and there’s been a few I’ve been pretty impressed by! I also love how much cheaper things like Benefit are in America so I tend to treat myself when I’m on holiday if I know it will cost less.

8. Does your skin care routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are  traveling to?

I’m rubbish – I barely even have a skin care routine! But I know in Winter I need to use a good moisturiser as my skin dries out sometimes. I also like to use a lighter foundation, or just a BB cream in summer so as not to feel too ‘clogged up’.

“I also love how much cheaper things like Benefit are in America so I tend to treat myself when I’m on holiday if I know it will cost less.”

9. What has been your go-to style when travelling?

For the actual travelling, I like to be as comfy as possible. Usually some hareem style pants and a hoody for when it’s chilly. I’m always that stupid person who wears lace-up shoes and has to undo them at security check. Every. Time! For the rest of the trip, I like to make a special effort, mainly because I take so many pictures! That’s a lot easier when it’s summer.

Our pictures from Budapest in November has me wearing so many layers, including my other half’s coat (because I stupidly forgot mine!). Yet the ones from America the year before, I’m wearing shorts and vest tops or bikinis because it’s roasting – though I probably wouldn’t have felt comfortable to wear them at home.

10. Any packing tips?

Stuff and roll! I’m terrible at packing but loveusing packing cubes as they make things a lot easier especially when trying to maximise space. I just pick up a random selection of items and hope for the best whereasas my fiancé counts out exactly what he needs and for which day. Thankfully, I can fit in his clothes! My staple would be a rain mac that folds into a tiny pouch, wherever you’re going because it sucks to be wet!

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With… Coco Butter

November 11, 2015 by admin 2 Comments

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

The second in the ‘Jet Set Ready With…‘ series. This time we have Samantha who blogs at CoCo Butter. A lover of travel and exploring, although London continues to be her favourite city. Below, Samantha shares her secrets when it comes to being Jet Set Ready!

You can find the links to Samantha’s blog below. I hope you enjoy  the series.

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?
I start preparing as soon as I book a holiday by stepping up my exercise routine and trying to eat a little bit healthier – all in an attempt to get my bikini body! I’ll also start taking tanning and hair, skin and nails supplements so that I can look my best on the beach. I’ll also use the sunbed a couple of times before I leave (naughty!) to prepare my skin for the sun.

The day before I leave, I’ll get Shellac on my nails and toenails, shave everywhere that needs it, fake tan, and get my eyelashes tinted. I always leave packing until the last minute and so I’m usually stressing the day before!

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?

I like to keep really hydrated before flying as it dries out your skin so much so I’ll make sure I use a rich moisturiser like Elemis’ Marine Cream, plenty of hand cream and a lovely-smelling lip balm – my favourite at the moment is the cocoa one from Pixi. I take miniatures of these in my hand luggage so that I can top up during the flight. I like to look my best for the airport photos so I will wear a full face of makeup but if I’m flying long haul or overnight, I’ll take make-up wipes with me so that I can remove it on the plane.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?
My favourite holiday perfume is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. It’s really light, floral and summery and holds plenty of memories for me. My husband bought me some back from duty-free on his last boys trip and so he got himself straight into my good books!

4. What’s your favorite beauty treatment?
I love getting my nails done and I always opt for a gel or gel polish like Shellac. It lasts for up to two weeks so you don’t have to worry about reapplying nail varnish during your holiday.

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?
When it gets to about a month before the holiday, I’ll really step up my fitness routine and start working out three to four times a week. I like to mix it up with doing cardio a couple of times a week like running or swimming and some circuit training for toning. If I can’t get to the gym, I’ll pop a video on YouTube to do at home – I really like the Pop Sugar Fitness ones as I’m always in so much pain the next day that I know it must be working!

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?I like to keep my make up light after a long haul flight so as not to dry out my skin too much. I’ll cleanse, tone and moisturize (I love Dermalogica’s Microfoliant to get rid of dead skin cells and make your skin bright again) and then apply a light BB cream or tinted moisturiser. Tropic do a lovely BB cream that leaves you glowing.

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?

I haven’t really discovered many new treatments or brands on holiday but I do always love a trip to the spa when I’m abroad. I love popping in as they have everything in one place. Also, a trip to the duty free on the way home is a must.

8. Does your skincare routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are traveling to?

If I’m going on a summer holiday where I’ll be doing a lot of sunbathing, I’ll make sure that I use a lot of aftersun all over my body after sunbathing. I also keep my make-up really light – no one wants to see a full face of melting make-up! It also helps when you’re in and out of the pool – you don’t want it running all over you.

For summer holidays I also like getting my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted as they’re blonde so I can’t possibly be seen without make-up on them. I try to keep my beauty and make-up routines on holiday quite minimal so that I can spend the maximum amount of time possible having fun and exploring.

9. What has been your go-to style when travelling?
During summer I love wearing bold prints and I’ve recently really got into wearing patterned jumpsuits. My style is really laid back on holiday so I’ll wear boho accessories and leave my hair to dry naturally.

10. Any packing tips?
I’m actually a really good packer and usually manage to travel quite lightly. The best packing tip is outfit building. Plan what you’re going to wear every day so that you don’t bring unnecessary outfits and add to your luggage allowance. This also helps when you’re trying to decide what to wear as you have little to no choice!

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With…British Belle

November 9, 2015 by admin 5 Comments

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

Deanna, aka The British Belle opens the ‘Jet Set Ready With…‘ series that will feature four bloggers this week(Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). “A British born with an American heart”, she is a History graduate that sees life as one big adventure. I asked Deanna and 3 other bloggers how they get ready for holidays, whether weekend getaways or long vacations. Below is an insight into how Deanna gets Jet Set Ready!

I hope you enjoy the series this week. I  can’t wait to share the rest of the other blogger’s travel beauty and style tips this week. Links to her blog and Instagram are below. Enjoy!

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?

I have a couple different things I like to do to get holiday ready. Looking the best I can is so important to me. I like to feel confident and proud of myself, my body and my personality. Ballet is a huge passion of mine, as is going to the gym, it really helps me de-stress. Working out and eating well before I go on holiday is something that is super conscious in my mind. I want to look amazing! Relaxing is really important too, travelling and holidays can be stressful to prepare for. I’ll do some holiday shopping a week or so before I’m due to fly to get what I need, and book my beauty treatments so I’m not rushing around. Who doesn’t love shopping and being pampered? It’s like the holiday has started early!

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?
About a week before, I will get my hair cut/coloured so that it has time to settle in, I get my hair bleached and the sun can damage this, or the pool water can make it funny if you’re not careful where you go. Then about two to three days before I go, I’ll get my nails done, my eyebrows and fake tan. Tan?! Yes! I want to go looking like bronze goddess, not my usual pale blotchy colour. The night before I’ll always do a face mask, Lush are my favourite.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?
Rebel Fluer by Rhianna. It’s very fruity and smells like summer time and sunshine, It puts me in a really happy, excited mood!

4. What’s your favorite beauty treatment?
Absolutely getting my nails done! I adore my acrylic nails, I don’t have them too long. But the uniformity of having my nails all the same shape and length is just too pretty to deny. It’s oddly relaxing, and so much fun if you go with friends.

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?
I do up the amount I workout a bit, I might take only one rest day instead of two, and incorporate more cardio and toning exercises. I’ll also try and avoid any naughty treats (save them for holiday!) and eat as clean as possible.

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?
This one I’ve become quite good at! My fiance lives all the way in America so I make the really long 11-hour journey regularly. I go without a scrap of makeup on, don’t even entertain the idea of putting your skin through that torture, just don’t. During the flight, I’ll slather on some Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, absolutely everywhere. It’s thick and locks in moisture, protecting my face and lips from the awful dry air on the plane. A face mask doesn’t hurt either!

Sometimes I don’t bother with one, you can look crazy with gloopy green stuff all over your skin. When I land I’ll use my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, tone my skin, and pop on some rich moisturiser. For these steps I’ll use whatever mini samples I’ve got at home, they’re perfect for travelling! If I’m seeing my fiance after I land I’ll also pop on my Mac concealer, fill my brows and add a coat or two of They’re Real by Benefit. It helps me look awake! To finish off I always spritz my Mac Studio Finish.

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?
I discovered GlamGlow andEOS lip balms in Sephora about two years ago when I first flew to the states. Obsessed isn’t even the word, I’m so glad they’re somewhat available in the UK now.

8. Does your skin care routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are  traveling to?
Yes! I go to Maine often and it’s bitterly cold in the winter! I have sensitive skin, bleached hair and psoriasis. Nightmare! I use hair masks in place of conditioner when I travel there, the cold really sucks my hair dry and leaves it looking dead if I’m not careful. I only wash my hair two to three times a week, so using a mask isn’t too much! As for skin care, I will use a rich body butter daily- I love Soap and Glory or Body Shop.

9. What has been your go-to style while travelling?
Bold! It’s a new environment, beautiful scenery and chance to be whoever you want to be! I’ve found I’m very daring whilst on Holiday, it’s so fun to experiment and enjoy new styles.

10. Any packing tips?
Planning outfits ahead as much as possible is a good idea, as well as making the most of your hand luggage weight allowance, I see some people just taking a tiny bag when they have 15kg allowance. Use it all up!! Rolling clothes stops them creasing too.
