So for example flight to Athens then Santorini then return to London from Santorini.

Going Around in Santorini – The Most Economical Means of Transport

The next major area of expense is getting around in Santorini. You will not be getting Uber here, but you can get cars, bikes on rent, or even board the local bus or taxi. Local buses move around at different times of the day, and they just cost between 2 and 2.50 euros. However, this rate varies from the distance of the destination.

All local buses start and end at Fira bus terminus. Moreover, the buses do not directly go to these hot tourist destinations on the island. They may drop you at the closest stops from where you hike around. This may add to more hassles if you are not aware of the locality.

The Fira bus depot or terminus is a busy spot from where all the buses leave. These buses are air-conditioned, but you will not find any names on the buses. Find out the bus to where you are going and wait near it in a queue. During peak times of the day, expect buses to be a little busy with the locals too.

If you do not feel like taking that chance with local buses, then rent a car like we did. There is no fixed taxi fare for any destination, so make sure to ask before boarding any taxi. Ideally, from the Athinios ferry port to Fira, the fare could be around €20. If you wish to travel to all the best spots and have set itinerary for the day, you can get the entire day’s travel rental car for €40 a day approximately. The rental cars are the safest, and you can spend as long as you want to explore any spot specifically more than what you wish to spend on the other. This will not be the case if you are going on public transport.

If you are planning a trip in the peak holiday seasons from July to October, make sure to book your rental car online and book in advance. It saves you the stress of searching for a trusted rental car. This is also highly advisable if you have kids or elders in your travel group. Look for licensed and highly reviewed rental car sites online to avoid any mishap on reaching the island.

The rental cars are more beneficial to go around if you are unaware of the local language or geography of the place. Though the entire travel time around Santorini will not take a lot of time as the island is not that big anyway. Thus, the rental car is by far the best means of transport in terms of economy and an efficient way to trave.

As Santorini wines have grown in popularity so has the tourism around touring the wineries in Santorini. “The rare wines that emerge from Santorini’s volcanic soil are much like the island’s people: voluptuous and over-the-top in manner, with a character which you either dislike instantly or adore forever. Wines that are whites but have the attitude of a red.” Touring the vineyards is done in a relaxed manner, and great respite from the hustle and bustle of crowds or tourist thoroughfare in Oia and Fira. After you explore the vineyards in Santorini, you will come to appreciate the wines served in many of the cool restaurants in Santorini.

Below are some of the Santorini wineries not to miss out on:

Estate Argyros: This winery was established in 1903 and still very much family run. The Episkopi Gonia based winery is run by 4th-gen Matt Argyros whose 30ha of vineyards have some of the island’s oldest vines at over 150 years old. Planted with the heritage grape Assyritko.
Karamolegos Winery: This family-run winery as has been running since 1952 and follows traditional ways of cultivating wines that has been in the family for generations. When you visit, you can taste award-winning wines that are left to mature in the barrels for 60 months. You can also get a taste of the wines in the Aroma Avlis restaurant located in the winery’s yard.
Santo Wines: This winery is essentially run by its members of the Association Cooperatives of Theraic Products which was founded in 1947. Currently has over a thousand members including many vine growers in Santorini. Considered one of the first modern wineries in Santorini.
Gaia Wines: Another one of Santorini’s modern wineries run by Yiannis Paraskevopoulos. They produce one of the island’s symbolic and renowned wines. The grapes from Gaia wines come from a variety of low-yield vineyards in Episkopi, Akrotiri and Pyrgos.
Boutari: This is Greece’s first winery, established in 1879 and currently run for a 4th generation of the Boutari family. Boutari Santorini vineyards are planted with Aidani, Assyrtiko, Athiri and Mavrotragano grape varieties. Its winery in Santorini is also impressive from an architectural viewpoint, especially in the way it blends in effortlessly with its natural surroundings.
Hatzidaski Winery: Haridimos Hatzidakis is the smallest wintery on the island but very much one of Santorini’s most successful winemakers.

Visiting Athens In 2 Days – A Dive Into Greek History

The birthplace of wisest Greek philosophers Aristotle and Plato and one of the oldest cities on Earth can teach a man about history more than the history books can ever teach! With a lifespan of more than 3500 years, the Greek capital is endowed with a rich history and cultural significance.

I hope to guide you to as much of the city via a comprehensive 2-days itinerary in Athens. Athens is not just a city but also an embodiment of heroism, bearing the name of Goddess Athena. Each and every corner of the city is oozing in history and charm.

Since the city is packed with picturesque places to discover, this 2-day Athens itinerary guide makes exploring the city in a short time with ease. Particularly if you are hoping to combine your visit into a Greek Itinerary that includes Santorini and Mykonos. Below are tips on what to do in Athens in 2 days.

Things To See In Athens In 2 days – Athens Two Day Itinerary

While the city is beautiful, it’s almost impossible to experience it all in 2 days. However, this guide makes the most out of your 48-hour stay in Athens. The first day of Athens explores the main tourist sites like the Acropolis. The second day is all about shopping and admiring the beautiful artifacts of the most famous museums.

If you want to explore and churn out the best experiences for yourself in a minimum amount of time, here are the places to visit in Athens in 2 days. You can also take advantage of many tours in Athens offering full and half-day tours with a guide to walk you through the history of time in these beautiful sites in Athens.

Pro tip: If you are visiting Athens in the Summer be sure to pack a bottle of water, a hat, and sunglasses. There is hardly any shade and Athens summer can be unforgiving.

Day 1 In Athens – Things To Do

9:00 AM Propylaia

While touring in Acropolis, one of the first places to visit in Athens in 2 days is the first magnificent gate structure that you will come across. A man named Mnesikles was the architect of this project, which started in the year 437 BCE, but was unfortunately left unfinished. The reason behind its incompleteness is the Peloponnesian war that raged 5 years after its construction.

The structure was almost complete except for some final changes. Some theorists believe that the structure could not be completed due to saving resources for the war. To quote one traveler, “It is the only way to describe the grand entrance to one of the most brilliant locations on our planet.”

9:15 AM Parthenon

Parthenon is a temple at Acropolis built 2500 years ago in honor of the Greek Goddess Athena. You cannot afford to miss this site. It is among the top must-see in Athens in 2 days.

9:30 AM Temple of Athena Nike

This is another major temple dedicated to Goddess Athena. However, the uniqueness of this temple is, the idol of Athena is displayed as victorious in the war. The Greek word “Nike” actually translates into “victory.” It stands on the edge of a high cliff and is placed at the southwest corner of Acropolis. It is the smallest temple in Acropolis constructed by Kallikrates, the same man who constructed the majestic Parthenon.

The construction of the temple was finished by 420 BCE. On the southern wall, you can see the sculpture of Greeks fighting with the Persians, and on the other side, you can find Greeks fighting with other warriors. As you climb up the wall, you can see several poses of Athena, most notably being a pose where Nike is seen to adjust her sandal. The interior designs are relief and charming.

10:30 AM Theater of Dionysus

If you are wondering about the first theater in the world, this is it! The Theater of Dionysus is located at the foot of Acropolis, where you can sit on the steps and admire like the audience. Another one on of those cool places not to much on the things to do in Athens in 2 days.

11:00 AM Areopagus or Mars Hill

This is a sweet spot to view the whole length and breadth of the majestic Athens. At this spot, Apostle Paul had given a sermon

“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of Heaven and Earth and does not live in temples built by human hands.”

This was some historical fact to cater to your curiosity!

11:15 AM Plaka

In the Plaka neighborhood, you will find a plethora of restaurants, bars, and cafes. You can have Greek salads with baklava and delicious Greek yogurt with honey. For tips on what to eat see this cool Athens food guide. This place is definitely must see in Athens in 2 days.

1:15 PM Temple of Zeus

Out of 104 columns, only 16 of them are present. 2 columns are present in the southwest corner and the other 13 in the southeast. Here, one column will be seen to have fallen, which has a history behind it. Due to a major earthquake in the 19th century, one of the columns toppled. The temple is around 2500 years old! It is also known by the other name, “Olympieion.” The architect responsible for its architecture is Roman emperor Hadrian. Although the kind of Syria started the work in 174 BCE, his death resulted in a halt. Hadrian, the great Philhellene, completed the magnificence. It is the largest temple in the city and one of the greatest temples ever built in ancient history.

2:30 PM Hadrian’s Arch

The Roman emperor Hadrian constructed the Arch in 131 AD. It was constructed as a wall separating new Athens from the old. It is located in the south of the National Gardens at the entrance of Temple of Olympian Zeus at Amallias Avenue. On the side of the arch, you will find these words

“This is Athens, the former city of Theseus.” The other side not facing Acropolis reads

“This is the city of Hadrian and not of Theseus.” It is a 59 ft gate made of marble.

Pro tip: When you come down from the Acropolis you will notice plenty of restaurants you can take your pick and grab a quick bite and hate out to the next stop on the Athens itinerary.

4:00 PM Athens National Gardens

If you want a welcome respite of calmness from the noisy crowds that you have will no doubt have encountered in Acropolis, walk past the Parliament building. You can take a stroll here at the beautiful green gardens, which exit to the Panathenaic stadium. It is located at a stone’s throw from Syntagma metro station. The garden has a glorious history behind it. It was named as “The garden of Amalia.”

Amalia was a queen who was the wife of King Otto. She is said to have spent at least 3 hours a day taking care of the garden! When you enter the garden from one of the seven entrances, Vasilissis Amalias Avenue entrance, a 25-meter high Washingtonia Palm trees will steal your attention. The royal highness herself planted the majestic trees! The garden has around 7000 trees, 40000 bushes, and other plants of 519 species. Catering to your enjoyment, the place also has a children’s library along with a cafe.

5:00 PM Syntagma Square

Syntagma square is the heart of Athens. It is Greek for Constitution Square. The first Royal modern Greek king, Otto, in the year 1843, christened the place. Here, you can witness the ceremonial changing of Guards, which is a necessary watch ritual. They perform at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. On Sundays, you can see them wearing a traditional Greek war outfit from the 1821 era. On weekdays, you can observe their normal modern attire. The uniqueness of these soldiers lies in the fact that they remain stationary for 1 hour. After every 1 hour, they change their positions.

6:00 PM Panathenaic Stadium

It was here at this stadium where the first modern Olympics took place in the 19th century. It is also known as Kallimarmaro. It is the only stadium in the world built entirely of marble. Having been excavated in the year 1869, the surprising part is, the marble structure is still standing even after a big 2000 years! Though some modifications have been made, it is clear enough to see how it stood the test of time.

Things To Do In The Evening Of Day One

When you visit Athens in 2 days you no doubt want to see as much as possible and as this was a long day, at this point you will no doubt want to head out to your hotel to relax and refresh. Day 2 In Athens – Places To Visit

9:00 AM Monastiraki Market

There are many things to do in Athens in 2 days! If you are asking yourself what to do in Athens in 2 days, you can start your Day 2 by exploring Monastiraki Market. Whichever side you turn, you will find a plethora of markets and shopping centers. Even if you are not buying anything from here, it is recommended to explore this unique place still and maybe even pick up a Greek souvenir or two.

In Monastiraki square, you will find Athens flee market where you find splendid souvenirs and outdated electronics. While making your way inside the flea market, you will come across Ancient Agora. This place may seem peaceful now, but historically, it was a busy commercial place with bustling people gossiping and shopping around. Historically speaking, the Ancient Agora was a place for political gatherings, and Roman Agora located on the eastern side was a marketplace.

You can easily access Roman Agora from the Ancient Agora towards the east side or walk 2 minutes from the Monastiraki metro station. The Roman Agora was constructed with the funds of Augustus and Julius Caesar in around the first century BC.

1:00 PM Adrian’s Library

Located in the northern corner of the Roman Agora, the library of Adrian houses not only books but also legal state archives. It is the largest library in all of Athens. It was constructed in 132 BCE by Roman emperor Hadrian as a plan for rebuilding the city. Admission to this site can be granted with a 30 EUR Acropolis combo ticket permitting entry to this one and five other sites. The library is built in an area of 10000 sq. km.

3:00 PM Temple of Hephaestus

Located just above the Ancient Agora, this temple has its awe. It is, in fact, the best-preserved ancient temple in the whole of Greece. This temple is dedicated mainly to Hephaestus, the God of Fire. Talented Iktinus, who also contributed to Parthenon, designed it in 450 BC. Its sculptures were made up of Parian marble while its structure was from Pentelic marble. Reconstruction and excavations at this historical site are still carried out to preserve the beautiful History.

4:00 PM Adrianou Street

Being one of the oldest commercial streets in Athens, Adrianou street is unlike any street in your country. Here, people from other countries in the world take a stroll and relax. The street has a wide range of shops and stalls. In case you feel hungry and tired, try grabbing a delicious coffee!

5:00 PM National Archaeological Museum

The National Archaeological Museum in Athens is the largest in all of Greece and is considered one of the most important museums devoted to Greek history. It was founded in the year 1829 after a revolutionary struggle between Ottoman and the Greeks. You can find more than a whopping number of 11000 exhibits here, ranging from the prehistoric era to late antiquity.

It will cost you around 10 EUR to explore it. One of the most prominent artifacts to be displayed here is the Antikythera Mechanism. It is believed to be the world’s first computer and was lying under the sea for more than 2000 years! One notable artifact is the Mask of Agamemnon, which is a golden death mask. It is believed to cover the face of a dead person.

Getting Around In Athens

The best way to get around Athens is by walking! You can get a great vibe from the city by exploring on foot. The entire Acropolis, as an archaeological site, has great sight watching to offer. The area can be explored on foot without any requirement of transportation. For getting around the city, the metro is the quickest and the efficient way. It is easier to travel around Athens in metros than in Paris! Syntagma station at the heart of Athens will not only be convenient for you but also a wonder.

The station is a display of wonderful artifacts and antiquities! Unfortunately, the bus in Athens as transport is not convenient, as the bus tops may seem hidden and difficult to find without the help of locals. Although the transportation system has improved since the 2004 Olympics, there is still room for improvement. Instead of the bus, you can take a ride in trolleys and trams, both of which are very affordable. In 2018, even though Uber has been suspended in Greece, taxis are available 24/7.

Instead of dropping a visit in the blazing hot summer, it is best to visit in April and June when the temperatures hover around 20 to 25 degrees. If you want to experience the best sightseeing, November can be your best bet, but you will need to be prepared for cold nights and heavy rains.

Sure people come for the Oia sunsets, beaches and blue domes in Santorini but, to get the best views of the caldera, the sunsets and all that Santorini has to offer, one needs to scope out the coolest and best cafes in Santorini. You can chill out with a coffee during the day, a glass of wine to usher in the evening as lights start to flicker on on the island.

So if you have not been to Santorini and are planning the perfect trip to Santorini, then you are in luck as I have tips on Santorini cafes to check out. Also spread out across the island, which in turn helps you explore the many cute and beautiful villages in Santorini.

Cool Santorini Cafes You Need To Check Out

Fancy a cool off from the Greek sun? Then head for gelatos at Angelato or Lolita’s Gelato in Kamari or Oia. If you have a sweet tooth then check out Anna’s Pastry shop in Pyrgos or Confetti Dessert Boutique in Imerovigli. Want to sit down and enjoy a little people watching with a coffee or cool drink then these cafes not only perfect for that but a little people watching as you enjoy the views.

Also, note that should you be visiting Santorini in winter, while some places might shut for winter, many of the cafes in Fira stay open in winter.

Palio Koureio

I talked a little bit about the amazing food you can sample in Santorini in my post on cooking classes in Santorini. Here you can not only sample Santorini’s traditions dishes like lava, but you can add local wines like nyhteri and vinsanto all while enjoy amazing views of the Castle in Emporeio from the terrace cafe.

Brusco

This little gem is a Santorini traditional cafe-bar located within a square in Prygos where you can sample local wines on the veranda local greek beers and Santorini and Greek dishes. If you are looking for things to bring back from Santorini, you can purchase them from Brusco who stock plenty of local products to bring back home with you.

Enigma Cafe

This cozy little cafe is located within the Engima Hotel in the heart of Fira. You can chill out from morning till late night and in between conversations you can sample their breakfast and walk you way to to lunch, and cocktail hour or freshly made juices.

Irini Traditional Cafe

If you are looking for traditional cafes in Santorini then don’t miss out on Irini’s Traditional Cafe. Their veranda overlooks Fird’s famous caldera when you can have a perfect view to go with a mouth-watering breakfast.

In the afternoon you can stop by for ouzo and traditional Greek dishes and as the evening draws in, cool cocktails while Santorini’s lights across the island start to flicker on.

Franco’s Cafe

Like Anna’s Pastry Shop, you can also find Franco’s Cafe in Pyrgos. Located at top of the castle in Pyrgos village with amazing views of Santorini. They offer coffees, juices, light snacks and the evening you can enjoy music accompanied by cocktails.

Ouzo Taverna Penelope

Want to mingle with a local feel to your cafe hunting? Then it has to be Ouzo Taverna Penelope located in Pyrgos. Serving coffees, desserts and cold beers with a cosy home ambiance to the experience. Another cafe near the Pyrgos cafe.

Aegle

Located in the heart of Fira near the Metropolitan Church and a stone’s through from the caldera. Cutely decorated, you can chill out on the colourful couches of cafe Aegle and enjoy a hearty breakfast with a coffee or delicious sandwiches, salads and top it off with some ice cream for lunch as the Greek sunshine reaches its peak. Aegle is the perfect place to relax and take a breather in Fira’s hustle and bustle.

Altana Traditional Cafe

Located in Imerovigli within Altana Hotel, a traditional cafe in look and feel. If you are looking to taste delicious homemade dishes this is the places to go. They serve up great tasting food and desserts to match the stunning views.

Classico Cafe

Stroll through Fira and stop by Classico Cafe to sample their cafes and restaurant delights. They offer amazing coffee, snacks, lunches and dinner inspired by Mediterranean cuisine all with an amazing view of the Aegean Sea. The spot for that well sought after Santorini sunset and relaxing spot after a hard day’s exploring and sun worshiping on the beaches.

To Panameritaki Ourania

A typically traditional cafe in Santorini located near the bus terminal. Run by Mrs Ourania who makes fresh breakfasts and fruit marmalade to go with your toast. A great spot to check out for a local experience.

Cafe Galini

The famous Cafe Galini is located in Firastefani. A cozy cafe that is a well- known fixture of this cool neighbourhood in Santorini. Galini serves among the best breakfast in Santorini, traditional desserts and of course ice cream for the heat calls for nothing else.

Like many cafes in Santorini, this one also turns into somewhat of a bar in the evening. You can enjoy great cocktails in the evening as the sun disappears into the Aegean Sea.

Fira is very much the centre of everything in Santorini and where you will find another one of Santorini’s cool cafes. Volcan On The Rocks is run by Ergon Company, who operates this well-known cafe on the island. Its located in front of Nomikos Conference Centre, they stock an amazing list of local and global wine brands, beers and delicious foods you get to enjoy with stunning views over the caldera.

Life is better when the sun is shining, isn’t it? To help you prepare for an epic summer that I am still hopeful we will have, I’ve compiled a list of the best summer destinations in Europe to spend those wonderful months. Trendy beach spots or bustling coastal cities, we’ve found the perfect places to sunbathe or enjoy the liveliness of the cities.

Spending this much time has sent me into a tizzy of wanderlust daydreams. I cannot wait to start exploring again, so if like you have already started your count down to freedom and are planning a break, I hope my list of the coolest summer holiday destinations in Europe will help narrow things down.

Deciding on where to travel this summer should be as easy as counting to 20! With that in mind, here are some options, which include some of my favourite places in Europe:

July here is the time of the big, prestigious arts festivals. In August, the emphasis falls on beaches, sun, relaxation, sports and family entertainment. Summer is festival season in this part of France and there is plenty to keep you entertained.

Celebrate Jazz at the annual Jazz Festival, or visit the Festival d’Avignon – a world-renowned arts festival set in the courtyard of the Palais des Papes – an opera festival in nearby Orange, les Choregies d’Orange, and a cutting-edge international photography exhibition, known as les Rencontres, in Arles.

As playwright George Bernard Shaw once said, “If you want to see paradise on earth, come to Dubrovnik”. It is not surprising that the city has become a major tourist attraction with many things to feed the wandering souls.

The stone architecture opposed with the magnificent nature of its seascape, a rich history, delicious food and beautiful beaches will make you forget all the worries.

If you want to avoid the crowds, then May, June or late August would be the best times to go. Dont worry, there are still plenty of things to do in Dubrovnik, even during the quieter periods.

From July 10 to August 25, the annual Dubrovnik Summer Festival will stage concerts, theatre and opera at various open-air venues in the old town. Actors, folk dancers, musicians, ballet dancers and many other artists come to Dubrovnik to celebrate the summer. Beyond Dubrovnik, there are plenty more hidden gems in Croatia you need to add to your list.

Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Famous for its Ottoman heritage and its most famous symbol, the Old Bridge or Stari Most, constructed in 1566. We recommend you to have at least one overnight in Mostar, like that you can admire its beauty in the late evenings. Mostar is heart of Herzegovina region. The city excels in the spheres of art, gastronomy, music, theater, museums, and literature.

Visit in summer to attend the Mostar Summer, an umbrella event that brings together the Šantić Poetic Evenings, the Mostar Summer Festival and the Bosnia and Herzegovina Festival of Choirs or Ensembles.

Owing to its location, jutting straight out into the Atlantic Ocean, Cornwall is a magnet for swell, with many great spot for surfers.

It is also an ideal place for a relaxing getaway in beautiful nature, regardless of your surfing skills. Cornwall has an abundance of beautiful towns and villages, from pretty fishing villages to vibrant, thriving market towns.

The county has a long and varied past dating back thousands of years to the Stone Age and across the county it’s possible to see evidence of its history sitting alongside modern life.

Visit the Minack Theatre to watch a performance on an Atlantic coast stage, read a book at Trebah Gardens in Falmouth and uncover the history behind the caste walls of St. Michael’s Mount. Whether you’re in Cornwall for a week or for a day, nothing should stop you from visiting at least one of the beaches in the area. Some of the best ones include the Perranporth, Fistral and Porthmeor.

The city in summer comes alive with countless outdoors events, creating a unique atmosphere. The streets fill with music, food and many happy faces. There is almost always some kind of festival or carnival going on, from the big music festivals like Wireless, South West Four and Notting Hill Carnival, to food festivals like Taste of London and London Brunch Fest to more niche festivals such as Grimeborn or Lovebox.

Also, what better way to spend a sun-soaked afternoon than sipping a drink with friends in one of the capital’s best beer gardens? London has some of the most colourful beer gardens in the world, People’s Park Tavern, Florence, White Hart, or White Swan being a few from our favourites. Known as the “London coast” for its proximity to the British capital, this city, traditionally popular with families, attracts anyone in love with the English coast.

In addition to a shingle beach, it has a pier where you will find a traditional amusement arcade, an electric railway facing the sea, facilities for practicing beach sports such as volleyball and soccer, and several museums (one dedicated to toys and models, and another one to natural history).

The Royal Pavilion, an oriental-inspired seaside palace built for King George IV, is also not to be missed. The town also has an exceptional variety of shops especially attractive for lovers of peculiar little things, “retro” fashion and handcrafted objects.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Summers in Amsterdam are the best, because it stays warm and sunny until late evening, permitting you to roam around the city without having to worry about the sun going down too quickly.

Have a picnic in one of the many parks, Vondelpark, Beatrixpark and Flevopark being perhaps the most popular ones to choose from. In May, the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre starts hosting various entertaining festivals. The first festival is the Freedom Festival for children.

From June onwards, events take place daily on weekends evening and Sunday afternoon. Hop on a boat to explore the canals and take pictures of the fairytale-like surroundings, or bring your friends and head to a festival!

More than 300 festivals take place each year in Amsterdam, and most of them happen in the summer months. So, no matter when you visit, there’s bound to be something going on. Les soldes (as the sales periods are known in French) take place between the beginning of July and the end of August, when you can enjoy discounts of 30% to 70% on everything from shoes to shower curtains and designer clothing lines. To experience and honour the French culture, celebrate Bastille’s Day on the 14^th of July, which marks the day of the Storming of the Bastille in 1789 and the start of the French Revolution.

This festive occasion brings people together and offers 2 days of exceptional free entertainment: a military parade, public dances at local fire stations, an outdoor operatic concert, and most of all, breathtaking fireworks. Traditional events, such as Camellia day, Days of St. Tripun, Kotor Carnival, Kotor’ Summer Fiestas, Child’s Festival, Bokeska night, International Clapper Festival are events that will be remembered and talked about for a long, long while.

This is among the top European destinations in summer. In addition to hosting the world’s most glamorous film festival and one of the year’s advertising dates, Cannes has so much more to offer.

A walk on the Croisette is always a good idea, as well as strolling through the old town at dusk and touring the narrow streets and alleys of the Suquet neighborhood, with some architectural remains dating back to the Middle Ages.

Along the steep main path, you will find on both sides a lot of restaurants with the best of Provencal cuisine: mussels, coquette eggs, ratatouille, boillabaise, tapenade.

On top of the hill you’ll find the Church Notre Dame de l’Espérance, which gives the best views over the city and the marina with some of the most spectacular yachts and boats you will ever see.

One of THE best places in Europe in the summer. Sardinia is known for its transparent water beaches and is one of the most visited destinations in the Mediterranean in summer. North Sardinia is more touristy, filled with beach bars and sun loungers.

The rich and famous have made Costa Esmeralda their vacation spot, but don’t worry, with over 1,000 kilometres of coastline, there’s no shortage of spectacular places to pitch up, whether surrounded by archaeological ruins, looming granite cliffs or the local macchia. Although Corfu is cooler than other Greek islands on average, the summer still brings perfect temperatures for a break on the beach. With high temperatures of 31°C and a daily average of 25°C, it’s still very warm during the day, so you can enjoy July’s 13 hours of sunshine, without having to hide inside from the heat.

Don’t miss a chance to visit the northwestern point of Corfu island, the dramatic Cape Drastis in summer, which is the best time to gain access to this location. What makes it a sight is thе weird shape of the cliffs with tiny seа caves and peculiar formations with a few sandy strips between them.

Another great summer destination for all the active sunshine lovers. The beaches here are wonderful in their own unique way, however most are covered in cobblestone instead of soft sand, so for those looking to spend most of the day on the beach, may not be ideal. If you are looking for a faster pace vacation, then Nice is your spot.

Make sure you visit Jardin Albert 1er, one of the oldest public gardens in Nice, an oasis just off the Promenade des Anglais. It features palm trees, plants from across the globe, carefully trimmed lawns, a traditional carousel, and even an open-air concert venue, the Théâtre de Verdure (open during the summer).

The latter has welcomed a wide variety of acts over the years, including Edith Piaf, Sting, and Iron Maiden. This park is popular with locals and is a great way to pass a sunny, leisurely afternoon. For more on things to do in Nice check out this French Riviera itinerary.

Its fabulous beaches and picturesque coves with cliffs that turn golden at sunset make this Portuguese destination one of the most sought after in the Algarve region. Although Oura is the best beach in the area, there are also other excellent options easily accessible such as São Rafael, Galé and Olhos d’Agua, nestled in a charming fishing village. Many of them offer water sports for the active visitors.

Best-value attractions include the Zoomarine oceanographic park, Aqualand water park, and an exciting treetop zipline tour. You can also surprise yourself by taking a boat tour which will take you to the best spots to see dolphins, whales and the rest of the local marine fauna, and discover hidden caves. Lake Constance (German: Bodensee) refers to three bodies of water on the Rhine at the northern foot of the Alps: the Obersee or Upper Lake Constance, the Untersee or Lower Lake Constance, and a connecting stretch of the Rhine, called the Seerhein. Lake Constance was formed by the Rhine Glacier during the ice age and is a zungenbecken lake.

Surrounded by Germany, Austria and Switzerland, it is locally known as the Bodensee. Here, in the ancient port city of Friedrichshafen, its pebble-filled shore will amaze you with spectacular views over the Alps. The German town also has a charming avenue and a park, and is full of modern cafes with terraces perfect for recovering energy while enjoying a coffee, a refreshing homemade ice cream or a cocktail.

In summer, Malta, isle of the knights, transmits a certain zest for life, a certain buzz in the air. The island surprises its visitors with its intense accumulation of historical buildings already from distance. If you like art, there is a lot to discover. Start with Valletta, the capital, a maze of ocher stone and Renaissance buildings where the fantastic St. John’s Co-Cathedral stands out.

Get the best panoramic view at the Fort of St. Elmo and admire the beauty of the other three cities: Vittoriosa, Senglea and Kalkara. At night, be sure to drink some wine and taste typical tapas in the Vittoriosa wine cellars, and in the day, head towards Golden Sands, a beautiful sandy beach. Be sure not to miss a day on Camino Island.

Fuerteventura is an interesting destination for summer holiday, which stands out for its crystalline water beaches and its landscapes filled with dunes and volcanoes. Something you can certainly cannot miss in Fuerteventura, are the Dunes of Corralejo and the nearby beaches. It is a quiet area where you can enjoy a fantastic landscape, sunbathe, read a book, and just live in the moment.

Summer is usually the most desirable time to visit Barcelona for its beaches and its relaxing yet very lively atmosphere. It is during this time that the most important festivals in the country take place, including the well-known ones, such as Primavera Sound and Sónar. However, festivals and beaches aren’t the only options.

There are also outdoor film festivals, big local festivals including St John’s feast day and the Gràcia neighbourhood’s big party. There’s also Gay Pride, the CaixaForum Summer Nights series of concerts, the city’s huge performance arts Grec festival, and more. If you want a truly active summer, this is the destination for you! If you are an adventure lover, expect the endless options of thrilling activities here. It has so many Alpine summits in close proximity to hikers of all ages. It is a great paradise for them.

Summer above the Arctic Circle is stunning, from mountains to the sea there is so much to see, do and love. Lofoten is a mecca for hiking, climbing, fishing, kayaking, skiing, Arctic surfing), and cycling, so summer is by far the best time to go. Some of the places that are definitely among the top ones to visit are Kvalvika and Haukland beaches and the small fishing village Reine. Planning Your Trip To Europe

When it comes to exploring Europe there are so many cool places to explore. Summer might be one of the busiest times to visit many European cities but it is also when the cities just come alive. Great vibe, cool boozy picnics in the parks, the perfect atmosphere for evening strolls, also the perfect weather if love hiking. Choosing a destination is that hard part, when it comes to putting together your trip once you choose a location the main things to think about are:

Flights – For the best flight details make sure you check out comparison sites because you will find that there are both budget and normal airlines flying into the same destinations and airports but all offering different costs. Sometimes flying with say British Airways versus RyanAir will be cheaper because by the time RyanAir adds in the luggage fees which have recently changed by the way, no free cabin bag which addition charge, the priority boarding, legroom, and other madness, you will find that a ticket with BA is cheaper. My point is that checking flights via Expedia or Ebookers.
Accommodation – I always use Booking.com for all my bookings as there is a great selection of hotels from hostel, apartments and hotels in all budgets.
Tours – Tours offer a great way to get your bearings in the city especially if its a walking tour. Getting a tour at the beginning of your trip allows you to get all the cool tips and hidden gems of the city and then for the remainder of your trip you can explore with all the info you gathered from your tour guide. Car Rentals – Renting a when exploring Europe is not always necessary and depends on certain destinations. For example, exploring Norway it might be useful to rent a car, to fully explore the cute Norwegian towns and villages on the fjords. Another explore would be exploring somewhere like Iceland. To really make the most of your visit a car is essential. Many of the cities above you want need to have one as you can explore on foot and use the local public transport.
Packing For Europe – Once you are all booked up, the rest is now all about packing for your trip to Europe, make sure you pack comfortable walking shoes or sandals as you will be exploring on foot most of the time.
