For this part of the Word On The Street travel series we are heading to the USA with Allison who will guide us through Arizona’s Scottsdale. The city has more spas per capita than any other city in the entire United States. Definitely sounds like a city that should be on a the list for anyone that loves a good pampering session!

It’s also within the sunshine state with reliable sunny weather for most of the year as well as being home to one of the world’s most famous sights; the Grand Canyon of course. In addition to the Grand Canyon, you will also find the Sonaro Dessert, which borders both US and Mexico with its distinguishable Saguaro cactus-filled surroundings and rugged formations of Red Rock State Park.

Below Allison takes us on a mini-tour of Scottsdale and for more on Scottsdale, check out this Scottsdale day guide by 52 Perfect Days.

Scottsdale is like no other place because of its world-class golf courses, fabulous spas, and topnotch shopping and also still very possible to do Scottsdale on a budget. Located about a 40-minute drive from Phoenix, this well-kept desert town has some breathtaking mountain views.

The best views in Scottsdale can be found atop Table Mesa. Located deep in the desert and reachable by ATV or hummer, Table Mesa offers breathtaking views of Arizona’s beautiful natural landscape.

I would highly recommend a desert tour with Arizona Tours if you’re looking to explore the desert and learn about Arizona’s rich history. The open-air hummer tour is an absolute blast. Be sure to pack your sunscreen! Scottsdale temperatures can surpass 100 degrees in the summer and there is little to no shade in the desert.

For a local escape in Scottsdale, look no further than the spa at the Phoenician Hotel. Offering an array of services and packages, the spa and its amenities make for a relaxing day. During my visit, I wasted away the afternoon having a scrub, a shea butter treatment, and an 80-minute holistic massage. Be sure to bring your swimsuit because spa guests get a day pass to the resort’s fabulous pools as well.

If you’re looking for a night out on the town in Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Quarter is the place to be. With an array of shops, bars, and restaurants, this bustling outdoor promenade is a great place to grab a drink after a day in the dessert or an afternoon at the spa. My favorite restaurant, Eddie V’s, has delicious cocktails and delectable seafood. Try the yellowtail sashimi and the shrimp and lobster bisque if you’re a seafood lover like I am.

I never want my love for traveling abroad to cause me to overlook the beauty right here in America. Arizona is a beautiful state. If leisure is what you’re after, Scottsdale is a great city to visit.
