With a background of Douglas fir, alder, and cottonwood trees with moss covering almost every surface, the 28-foot Coal Creek Falls is a beautiful, multi-step waterfall that flows the best during the rainy winter season.

The hike to reach it is a short 2.5-mile roundtrip hike that is classified as an easier to moderate hike, as it is relatively flat.

This means it is accessible for beginning hikers and families. The falls are in Cougar Mountain, which used to be a coal mine from 1863 to 1963.

5. Weeks Falls

The 30-foot Weeks Falls is a beautiful waterfall on the South fork of the Snoqualmie River that cascades over the rocks with deep blue rushing water.

6. Franklin Falls

This spectacular 70-foot waterfall is easy to get to, with a beginner-friendly and dog-friendly trail, Franklin Falls is perfect any time of year.

With a 2-mile roundtrip trail, you will hike to the base of the falls in a picture-perfect spot. In the winter, Franklin Falls freezes, while in the summer, the sun glitters off of the falls.

7. Teneriffe Falls

Although the hike to reach Teneriffe Falls can be a bit difficult and is a 5.6-mile roundtrip trail. However, because of the harder trail and longer hike, the waterfall is much more secluded than other waterfalls in the area.

On the Denny Creek Trail, Keekwulee Falls is a beautiful 171-foot waterfall that flows in Denny Creek. Surrounded by trees and Denny Mountain, Keekwulee Falls plunges water into the creek below.

With about a 3.8-mile roundtrip hike at about a moderate skill level, the falls are relatively accessible.

As the trail a continuation of a 2.4-mile roundtrip hike to the Denny Creek waterslide, Keewulee Falls is much less visited. This hidden gem is a great waterfall hike near Seattle.

9. Comet Falls

Plunging 301 feet, Comet Falls is the tumbling point for water flowing from the whitewater creek from above. The hike to get to the falls is 3.8 miles roundtrip, at about a moderate level.

Don’t even get me started on the food, from cool brunch spots…just thinking about the food makes my mouth water. Let’s talk about the cool and fun places to visit in Columbus.

Fun Things To Do & Places To Visit In Columbus

Columbus has so many cool and hidden gems that even locals don’t know about. From the lovely Hayden Falls to beautiful and leafy parks.

Whether you are looking for a city break for a solo trip or looking for a chilled out couples break or a family vacation, there is something for everyone in Columbus.

So, grab a good breakfast in Columbus and get exploring to these cool must-see places to visit in the city.

Columbus Zoo And Aquarium

If you are planning a family trip to Columbus, Ohio, your first stop should be the aquarium and zoo. Known to be one of the best zoos across the United States, it is home to more than 7000 animals representing 800 different species.

The park covers a territory of more than 580 acres and is divided in a number of exhibits and regions of the Earth. Earlier this week, Ktembe’s troop ventured outdoors for the first time with 2-month-old Jamani! Cassie is a strong and confident mother and keepers say that Jamani is doing great!🥰🦍 . Guests may have the chance to see Ktembe’s troop, as they go outside regularly for a portion of the day and they can be seen often inside the gorilla building. Jamani is still quite small and fits perfectly in mom Cassie’s arms. At times it may be hard to find her depending on how mom is holding her and where they are laying in the habitat. . Jamani is now sitting up with some assistance from mom. Cassie also places Jamani in front of her to work on her independence and tummy time. The troop is very respectful of mom and baby, plus big sister Nadami has been allowed to touch her, but with limited interactions. The animal care team says that Jamani gets cuter by the day if that’s even possible!

Situated at the heart of the city, Scioto Mile is a fantastic park offering visitors the opportunity to walk around, bike along the trails or have a nice family picnic.

Make sure to take the promenade along the Scioto River and enjoy the views of the downtown area of Columbus in the distance.

During the hot summer days, you should certainly cool off by the numerous fountains shooting water as high as 75 feet! The park often hosts various free concerts and events, so make sure to check the program while you are in town!

Franklin Park Conservatory And Botanical Gardens

With its colorful outdoor gardens, exotic plant species collections and beautiful conservatory area, Franklin Park is a must-see while in Columbus, Ohio.

Spreading on a territory of around 88 acres, the botanical gardens are the perfect location for a quiet nature escape, while still being in the city center.

Despite the fact that spring is known to be the most stunning season to visit when thousands of trees and flowers are blooming in vibrant colors, the park looks unique and different every month.

The hipster and quirky Short North Arts District is one of the most interesting and unique neighborhoods to explore in Columbus, Ohio.

Known to be heavily influenced by a number of creative artists, the area is home to different galleries, vintage shops and unique cafes and bars.

Spend an amazing afternoon by wandering through the streets of the art neighborhood and enjoy the extraordinary architectural design of older brick buildings decorated with contemporary and colorful wall paintings.

North Market Farmer’s Market

Known as one of the oldest and biggest farmer’s markets in Ohio, the North Market attracts farmers and businesses offering locally-grown fresh products.

If you are visiting Columbus between June to October, make sure to add the bazaar to your itinerary for exploring the city.

Stroll between the stalls and choose some fresh fruit and vegetables or get a hand-made item as a souvenir of your trip to Columbus. Keep in mind that the market is open only on Saturdays and Sundays, though.
