The best time you have to maximize your skincare routine is during a long haul flight. Why you wonder? Well, it’s simple. You’ve got all this free time, because some long haul flights can last close to half a day. While on a flight, some of the most common things to do include reading a book and watching a movie. Who’s to say you can’t do these and more while working on your skincare routine? Long haul flights are especially hard on our skins and faces, so it’s important that you work on preserving the suppleness and freshness of your skin before and during the flight. Drink a lot of water and take care of your skin during the flight with an infallible skincare routine.

The Benefits of Wearing A Mask On A Plane

Face masks are an important part of any skincare routine and for many reasons. They supply your face with much-needed moisture and hydration, because dehydration is one of the many cons of a long haul flights or flying in general. One question that might linger in your head is, “are face masks actually allowed on planes?”. Well, I’m here to tell you that they are! As long as they pose no harm to the other passengers and the flight itself, your facemasks can come with you during the flight, and you definitely can use them. Of course, a flight is not the time to use a clay mask, but just a simple sheet mask that hydrates and protects your skin.

Airplane Facial Kit Essentials

When packing your carry-on luggage, there are some beauty essentials that you need to include:

  • Wipes
  • Face Mist
  • Face Masks
  • Travel size skin care kit

Pre-Flight Beauty Tips (for long haul flights)

For the best skin care for long haul flights and to make sure your face stays fresh and pretty all flight long and when you land, here are some tips to consider putting into practice:

  • Drink less caffeinated drinks as this helps to reduce jet lag.
  • Drink lots of water
  • Pack your own in-flight healthy snacks – almonds, fruit etc
  • Take off all makeup and remove your contacts  – try not to fly with too much makeup to save you having to only take it off before using the beauty mask.

9 Winter Travel Beauty Tips for Travelers

January 19, 2018 by admin Leave a Comment

Winter Beauty Travel Tips

Winter is harsh on everything, especially your skin, below I am sharing my winter travel beauty tips. As a traveller, if you are visiting a country in winter or live in a country with harsh winters like our UK winters, then you need to take extra care of your skin.

Even though it is hard to look fashionable while taking cover from the weather in the winter considering the cold, your skincare routine is one that also needs to adapt to the changing seasons.

I have sensitive and combination skin so have to be careful with making changes to my skincare routine. Whether its winter or summer, I will usually scope out places like House of Fraser, and  John Lewis, skincare sections to scope out beauty products suitable for the weather where I am going.

Sometimes get items just to cater to the changing season in helping make sure my skin is well moisturised and protected from the harsh winds and cold. Another site has fast become a favourite is Spa Finder. I have a bit of a ritual before I go on my trips.

I love a good spa treatment, whether it’s just to pop in for a facial or a massage but especially as we change seasons. I feel like having a facial or a beauty treatment helps to reset my skin as I move from wearing summer beauty products to winter beauty products.

I am thankful that this routine usually leaves my skin smooth with hardly any issues throughout the year except for the odd spot every other month when I indulge in a little chocolate. So with that in mind, I thought I would give you some beauty tips to help you get your skin looking its best during winter during whether you are traveling or staying put in home countries during the winter.

Winter traveling can be fun, but it becomes unpleasant if the weather takes a toll on your on your body, affect how you look and feel. Below are some winter travel tips to help combat the effects of harsh winter.

9 Winter Travel Beauty Tips for Travelers

Wear your sunscreen

You might think this is unnecessary since the temperatures are low, but you’d be wrong. Irrespective of the season, if the sun is up, so are its rays, and the UV rays can damage your skin if it can get access to it.

Protect yourself by applying enough sunblock before going outdoors. To help put this into perspective think how cold skiing locations are but when the sun is out you can still get sunburnt.  It doesnt have to be full on, you can opt for a moisturiser with an SPF of 15+.

Keep hydrated

Drinking plenty of water can make your skin shiny and beautiful. It also improves circulation of blood around the body. If it’s okay with you, hot tea is also a good way of staying hydrated and warm.

I have found that in colder months it’s a lot hard to drink water so I tend to buy fresh grapefruit juice pour that into a large gym bottle or a large glass when I am at home then add lots of hot water.

Drink as it was a herbal tea. You stay hydrated and you get the benefits of vitamin C from the juice and the hot water does so much good for not only clearing your skin but your insides too. Within a few days your skin looks and feels so much better. Trust me!

Workout

You might be tempted to leave your workouts because of the freezing conditions, but don’t. If you leave your workouts for later, the harder it gets to do it. I have found that starting with getting yourself to do just 30 minutes works a treat.

If you can’t get to the gym then buy a jump rope. They are super cheap and easier to travel with. That way can also keep fit as you travel without needing to have a gym membership. Just 1 minute of alternating jump rope can burn 1o calories add some squats and you are good to go.

Wear a scarf outdoors

Winter can be frigid, and if you are going outdoors, the winds can cause be drying to your lips and skin leaving it cracked up and sometimes irritating. Always wear a scarf to cover your face, neck, and every part of your head from the cold. I tend to have one in my tote much like I always have an umbrella living in London, you just never know when you are going to need it.

Exfoliate

When traveling during the winter, remember to pack an exfoliator to remove dead skin remnants from your face. Find a good exfoliator as these help moisturizers penetrate deeper into your skin thereby making your skin smooth and glowing.

I try to do it only once a week as over-exfoliating can also make your skin dry. This is also good as during colder months you may find that your skin needs more moisturizer to combat the drying weather in which case just to avoid product build up, I find exfoliation helps the skin to absorb the product better.

Wear Lip Balm

Winter’s harshness causes your skin to dry out quickly especially the exposed parts such as the lips. Protect your lips by wearing a quality lip balms with a moisturizing effect. There are so many good quality lip balms out there. Moisturised lips also help to ensure that your lipsticks and lipglosses last a lot longer than get sucked it for lips that are starving for moisture.

Eat Healthily

There is no substitute for good food. The quality of your skin depends mainly on the quality of your diet, so eat balanced and highly nutritious meals to get a healthy and beautiful skin during your winter travels.

I have found that drinking lots of water reduces the cravings so the more water the less likely to eat crap. Check out the London Wellness Guide for more tips on food, fitness, mind, body and soul. Filled with stunning photography and an authentic voice, it will let you delve into a treasure trove of healthy discoveries, revealing where to eat out, get in shape and mindfully unwind.

This book showcases an inspiring collection of London’s trendiest healthy eateries, boutique fitness studios, serene spas and other nourishing nooks around the city. Another book to consider with a little tough love and a good dose of humor is Sarah Knight’s Get Your Sh*t Together.

A best seller and no-f*cks-given, no-holds-barred guide to living your best life. “Her self-help books are full of useful tips, profanity, and irreverent humor so don’t pick this title up if you’re easily offended. If you know someone who seriously needs to get their you-know-what together, this could be the title you’ve been waiting for!”

Moisturize

Winters can get very dry, and this makes the skin uncomfortably dry and irritating. Apply a good moisturizer with natural ingredients which help to lock in moisture so your skin can stay fresh and beautiful.  I absolutely love Ren Skincare, they have some of the best face moisturizers and their body lotions and bath stuff are just heaven in a bottle. They are all made with pure plant and mineral-derived extracts and ethically sourced oils including Argan, Jobaba and Moroccan Rose which nourish and soothe the skin.

Great moisturizers also mean that your make up lasts a lot longer but not only that your skin is better protected from the cold, winds and rain. This is one of the reasons I love my spa treatments so that when I have to change to use a heavier moisturizer in the winter, the spa facial acts as a reset for to switch products and I do the same again towards summer when I start using light moisturizers. For more read my post on the best skincare travel kits for different skin types.

Protect your Hands and Feet

The skin on your limbs are much thinner than other parts of the body, and the hands and feet also have fewer oil glands, which makes them susceptible to cracking in winter conditions. Maintain the beauty of your hands by wearing cotton gloves. Apply foot lotion to reduce cracking and keep in the moisture to your feet as well as wear woolen socks to keep them warm. I love Burts Bees foot lotion which comes in coconut and peppermint.

Carry On Essentials For A long Haul Flight | 6 Tips and Tricks on How to Look Refreshed

Essentials For A long Haul Flight | 6 Tips and Tricks on How to Look Refreshed

Let’s talk all things carry on essentials for a long flight. Last year saw me travel a lot more that I usually do and with the majority of my trips requiring long-haul flights, I thought I would share some tips on carry on essentials for long-haul flights that help me look and feel refreshed after long-haul flights. As well as share tips on what to take in hand luggage for a long haul. These include staples like lip balms, travel pillow, water bottle and so on.

My trusted pink Longchamp weekender has been to Hong Kong, Australia, USA and all over Europe and still continues to survive the trips and the contents I tend to throw in it. This simple little bag is unbelievably durable and perfect for throwing all my carry on essentials in, whether I am going for a short getaway or a long haul flight.

List of Essentials For A Long Haul Flight & What To Do On A Long Flight

In addition to having a magazine, book or the iPad I have always packed items that I can easily access once I get on the flight. Over the years I have found that people always want to know your carry on flight essentials list for overseas flights, well in this post you get to see what’s in my travel bag. Items that will allow me to easily relax and rest while on the flight as well as look well rested when I get to my destination. Below I not only go over my long-haul flight beauty essentials, what to do on a long flight and tips for a long haul flight to get you to fall asleep easily.

1. H2O – Drink Plenty of Water

Travelling can be dehydrating, especially during long-haul travel. Dehydration can also mean dry pasty looking skin when you land so drink as much water as possible before and during your flight. Pack a water bottle that can easily be refilled on board. You buy a large bottle of water before boarding or by a water bottle to reduce on single use plastics.

2. Get Some Sleep – This Stuff Works

If flying long haul I tend to pick flights leaving at night but even if you leave in the morning or afternoon. Try and get as much sleep on the flight as possible to help you align your sleeping patterns to the destination time zone. Getting some rest on the flight also means reducing the effects of jet-lag when you arrive. Details of This Stuff Work Lavender spray below in the carry-on essentials.

3. Take Make Up Off  And Put First or Eye Mask

When travelling long haul wear as little make-up as possible. Usually, brow pencil and mascara is about as much as I wear when flying long haul. That way you don’t have to spend forever taking it all off when you get on the flight. Not only that I have always found the air on flights to somehow help the makeup clog up the pores. If you do wear makeup, though, just take that off before dozing off on the flight. Having wipes in your bag or carry-on gives your quick access to help remove any make-up. As flights can be dehydrating, I usually pack a couple of hydrating face and eye masks.

4. Wrap Hair to Avoid Dry Bedhead Hair

For that refreshed look when you get off the plane, I find that wrapping the hair or a simple braid and tuck helps return moistures so that when you unwrap the hair as you get off the flight you reduce the bed hair effect and add a little volume at the same time.

5. Cleanse, Tone, Moisturise

This is a no-brainer. Your skin always looks brighter and more radiant when you take of it. Travel as fun as it is, the business of flying can be drying on the skin. I usually have oily to combination skin but flying sometimes can produce extra sebum and then sometimes dry on longer flights. I always find that removing make-up, cleansing, toning and the moisturising properly helps counter the effects of the drying air on the plane.

6. Ear Plugs

We all know the sometimes flights can be noise, whether that is people moving about nonstop, or babies in a funky mood. Best to pack ear plugs, especially if you are like me and are a light sleeper.

7. Travel Pillow

This is a must on the packing list for flight essentials on long-haul flights. Whether you are on a long haul flight to South America, Asia or Africa, neck pillows and travel pillows, in general, have come a long way. My current favourite at the moment is the Wendsim Pillow which is perfect for supporting the head and the neck. For tips on which ones to buy check out this handy travel pillow guide.

8. Compression Socks

Compression socks are a must whether you are a frequent traveller or not. They help with preventing varicose veins, stimulate the oxygen transmission of the muscle and provide cyclic support to reduce damage, swelling, and fatigue.

Let’s face it, plan seats are not the most comfortable things, are they? So those little things you bring with you can go a long way in making your flight a little more comfortable and bearable enough for your to get some rest during long flights. So a shawl, wrap or scarf can keep you warm when they blast that aircon as well as the trusty cashmere socks. Having an infinity scarf means you can not only keep ward but also keep valuable documents close by. Also, make sure you wear comfortable shoes when flying. Just a few essentials I always pack to make travel that little more comfortable.

In-Flight Routine & Tips and Tricks on How to Look Refreshed After Long Haul Flight

Essentials For A long Haul Flight | 6 Tips and Tricks on How to Look Refreshed

In Flight –  Shortly after take off I sneak off to the bathroom to remove any makeup, whether that is with a cleanser/toner, my Ren hot cloth cleaner or with wipes, depending on what I have packed at the time. I remove any makeup and moisturise. I currently dance between Elizabeth Arden and Decleor moisturisers as they are the only ones that seem to agree with me and not make my skin get too oily. Brush my teeth and wrap my hair. By the time I get back to my seat I feel refreshed and my seatmates usually think it’s a different person sitting next to them as I turn up with a silk scarf around my hair.

Before Arriving – About 30 minutes to an hour before landing. I sneak off to the toilets again. Freshen up with wipes, moisturise (if I am using tinted moisturiser I use my trusted MAC Tinted Creme with 30 SPF), unbraid or unravel my hair, apply a little oil or moisturise to hair, depending on current hairstyle, brush teeth. Apply brow pencil and a little mascara and you are good to go!

Flight Essentials – Travel Staples I Pack In My Carry-On For Long Haul Travel

To add to my travel essentials packing list above, below are  a couple more musts haves on the flight essentials list.

Longchamp Travel Bag

Usually my main carry-on of choice when I travel, especially if I have checked in bags. It’s big enough for me to stuff it with my all my travel essentials that I need for in-flight comfort as well as anything I may need for any layovers while my main suitcase gets transferred to the next flight. I also love that the Longchamp carry-on  folds over to the size of a small purse so that if I am traveling light, but know that I will be coming back with more than I went with, it’s perfect for bringing back goodies without having to take an empty suitcase with me.

Perfect Travel Carry-ons

Face Wipes

This and hand sanitizer are always in my handbag or carry-on and part of my travel essentials packing list. Usually, I try and sneak off to the toilets on late flights to wash off any make-up or cleanse/tone but sometimes you are lazy and can just use the wipes to remove any make-up from your seat. Face wipes are also perfect for wipe any germs from seat handles and people’s hands you may have been checking through the day (can you tell I am a germophobe)

Ren Hot Cloth Cleanser

I love Ren products. I actually found out about their products when my young sister got a job with Ren in their Shepards Bush store and always used to tease my sister about their products until I tried them. It was love at first application. I have their bath oils, lotions and body washes are just to die for. That Neroli and grapefruit has always been a favourite. Another item from their range that I tend to travel with is the Ren Hot Cloth Cleanser, it gently exfoliates and removes all make-up without that drying feeling. Leaving your skin refreshed and ready for moisturiser.

Sleeping Eye Mask

I am a light sleeper and find any little thing can disturb my sleep. I can’t exactly avoid the noise on the flight but I can certainly avoid those flicking their lights on and off when reading or watching moving on the flight so I tend to pack a sleeping mask in addition to ear plugs in my carry on just in case I need the help to sleep.

This Works

I have the smaller pillow spray but last Xmas my boyfriend bought me a gift box from This Works, which included the pillow spray among their bath soaks and a few other items. What I love about it was that I now had a slightly big version of my lavender pillow spray. I tell you this stuff works!! I am not only a light sleeper but also an insomniac. On the flight, I usually either spray a little on my eye mask, the travel pillow or spray it on a tissue and just sit back with that over my nose and relax into sleep. Perfect for long haul flights when you want to sleep and align yourself with the destination time zone.

Silk Scarf

I have a couple of silk and satin scarves that I rotate and travel with. The air conditioning on flights can be drying to not only your skin but also your hair. I usually find that wrapping your hair and tying a silk or satin scarf on your head to help with retaining moisture in hair when travelling long haul. Returning moisture in your hair means also goes a long way on looking refreshed when you finally get off the plane. For more on other essential items for your carryon checkout My Own Way To Travel’s post.

So those are my travel essentials, so what else is would you add to your carry on essentials for long flights?

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With…Cynthia of SimplyCyn

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

The last post in the ‘Jet Set Ready With…‘ series is in collaboration with Cynthia of SimplyCyn. This New York based jet-setter-blogger-attorney is one travelista that is packed with style as she trots around the globe in effortless chic attire. So, of course I wanted to know how she manages to look so stylish with her long haul travels crossing over the Atlantic, as if she pack the best stylists in her suitcase! Below Cynthia was quizzed on her beauty and travel style secrets. Hope you enjoy the insider deets as much as I did.

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?

I binge on travel mags and blogs trying to make sure I’ve captured all the necessary elements of my itinerary. I’ve had many friends tell me it sounds like work, but there’s really nothing more fun for me than the planning stages (besides maybe the actual trip).

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?

I have 2 simple rules, a good moisturizer and no makeup.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?

Anything light and citrusy. I love Fresh Hesperides Grapefruit

4. What’s your favourite beauty treatment?

A mani -pedi. Once the nails are done, I just feel a lot more put together.

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?

A big part of why I travel is to try foods from around the world. With that in mind, I’m much more mindful right before a trip and try to avoid fried or heavy meals. Also, I make sure to get in a lot of walking once I get to my destination to counter all the food I eat.

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?

I usually go straight from airport to hotel, where I take a shower, slather on moisturizer ( I love Origins GinZing Energy boositng Moisturizer) and a little-tinted lip balm (burts bees) and eyeliner go a long way.

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?

Korres was not as prevalent in the US 6 years ago during my honeymoon in Santorini, it was there that I discovered Korres products which I love and continue to use today.

8. Does your skin care routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are  traveling to?

Summer travel often comprises of mattifying moisturizers and primers (I currently love Becca Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector, almost as good and affordable is Rimmels Stay matte) as well as SPF- I loveJosie Maran Argan daily moisturizer SPF 47. In the winter I want to make sure my dry skin doesn’t get any dryer so I pack body butters like C. Booth Honey & Almond Butter.)

9. What has been your go-to style when travelling? (i.e stick to classics, bold and beautiful, experiment with style more when you travel or comfort before style?)

Not mutually exclusive- I like to find comfortable but stylish outfits. I definitely stick to more classics, but I throw in a few unexpected items just in case. I also love to shop my destination, so a lot of my travel style ends up being dictated by what I find in the shops.

10. Any packing tips?

Yes, less is more. Pack multi-purpose clothing. The white shirt that can be worn many ways, with or without jewelry, with or without scarf. use jewelry and accessories to make your travel wardrobe seem bigger than it is. I am also getting in using packing cubes to save space in my suitcase.

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With…Codie At CodieKinz

November 13, 2015 by admin 2 Comments

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...
We all have those countdowns to the holiday, don’t we? Planning what we are going to pack, getting the names, done, haircut and in some places waxed or shaved! Yep, we all do so this week I have had two bloggers take us through their jet-set ready plans. This third installment to the ‘Jet Set Ready With‘ series with bloggers this week with one more to go this Sunday with Simply Cyn.

This time we have Codie Kinz sharing how she gets ready for vacations and mini getaways. I love Codie’s honest and relaxed way of getting ready and not putting too much focus on the getting ready part and more on the fun of exploring. I can so relate as on some trips I just want to get up and go with no fuss. Hope you enjoy it. Don’t forget to share how you get ready in the comments below.

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?

I’m pretty low-maintenance to be honest. I make sure I’ve shaved my legs and ‘pits, and that’s pretty much it aside from the usual. I also craft some fun, themed accessories, which was obviously amazing for our recent Disneyland trip!

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?

I use a lot of moisturiser to make sure my face doesn’t get dried out on the flight (I tend to use Simple moisturiser because it feels great!) and then I’ll use BB cream, rather that foundation to give me just a little coverage. Then just a bit of mascara, not eyeliner because I always fall asleep on ‘planes.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?

Lady Gaga – Fame

“I recently had a Lush ‘Comforter’ Treatment, and I don’t think anything will ever feel as good!”

4. What’s your favorite beauty treatment?

I’m a big massage fan, in addition, hunting out spa deals! I don’t get them very often but when I do, I feel the benefits for ages afterward. I recently had a Lush ‘Comforter’ Treatment, and I don’t think anything will ever feel as good!

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?

I try not to put a lot of holiday pressure on being ‘beach ready’, especially as we don’t do a lot of beach holidays, we like to explore! But, I do like to do the Bootea Teatox a few times during the year to help detox.

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?

I don’t really have anything specific. I’ll give my hair a bit of a joosh (is that even a word?!), and touch up my makeup, maybe use some Vaseline if my lips are feeling dry, and then I’m good to go!

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?

I collect hotel minis! We have a little basket in our bathroom that we call out ‘Guest Basket’, so that people can help themselves and there’s been a few I’ve been pretty impressed by! I also love how much cheaper things like Benefit are in America so I tend to treat myself when I’m on holiday if I know it will cost less.

8. Does your skin care routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are  traveling to?

I’m rubbish – I barely even have a skin care routine! But I know in Winter I need to use a good moisturiser as my skin dries out sometimes. I also like to use a lighter foundation, or just a BB cream in summer so as not to feel too ‘clogged up’.

“I also love how much cheaper things like Benefit are in America so I tend to treat myself when I’m on holiday if I know it will cost less.”

9. What has been your go-to style when travelling?

For the actual travelling, I like to be as comfy as possible. Usually some hareem style pants and a hoody for when it’s chilly. I’m always that stupid person who wears lace-up shoes and has to undo them at security check. Every. Time! For the rest of the trip, I like to make a special effort, mainly because I take so many pictures! That’s a lot easier when it’s summer.

Our pictures from Budapest in November has me wearing so many layers, including my other half’s coat (because I stupidly forgot mine!). Yet the ones from America the year before, I’m wearing shorts and vest tops or bikinis because it’s roasting – though I probably wouldn’t have felt comfortable to wear them at home.

10. Any packing tips?

Stuff and roll! I’m terrible at packing but loveusing packing cubes as they make things a lot easier especially when trying to maximise space. I just pick up a random selection of items and hope for the best whereasas my fiancé counts out exactly what he needs and for which day. Thankfully, I can fit in his clothes! My staple would be a rain mac that folds into a tiny pouch, wherever you’re going because it sucks to be wet!

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With… Coco Butter

November 11, 2015 by admin 2 Comments

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

The second in the ‘Jet Set Ready With…‘ series. This time we have Samantha who blogs at CoCo Butter. A lover of travel and exploring, although London continues to be her favourite city. Below, Samantha shares her secrets when it comes to being Jet Set Ready!

You can find the links to Samantha’s blog below. I hope you enjoy  the series.

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?
I start preparing as soon as I book a holiday by stepping up my exercise routine and trying to eat a little bit healthier – all in an attempt to get my bikini body! I’ll also start taking tanning and hair, skin and nails supplements so that I can look my best on the beach. I’ll also use the sunbed a couple of times before I leave (naughty!) to prepare my skin for the sun.

The day before I leave, I’ll get Shellac on my nails and toenails, shave everywhere that needs it, fake tan, and get my eyelashes tinted. I always leave packing until the last minute and so I’m usually stressing the day before!

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?

I like to keep really hydrated before flying as it dries out your skin so much so I’ll make sure I use a rich moisturiser like Elemis’ Marine Cream, plenty of hand cream and a lovely-smelling lip balm – my favourite at the moment is the cocoa one from Pixi. I take miniatures of these in my hand luggage so that I can top up during the flight. I like to look my best for the airport photos so I will wear a full face of makeup but if I’m flying long haul or overnight, I’ll take make-up wipes with me so that I can remove it on the plane.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?
My favourite holiday perfume is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. It’s really light, floral and summery and holds plenty of memories for me. My husband bought me some back from duty-free on his last boys trip and so he got himself straight into my good books!

4. What’s your favorite beauty treatment?
I love getting my nails done and I always opt for a gel or gel polish like Shellac. It lasts for up to two weeks so you don’t have to worry about reapplying nail varnish during your holiday.

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?
When it gets to about a month before the holiday, I’ll really step up my fitness routine and start working out three to four times a week. I like to mix it up with doing cardio a couple of times a week like running or swimming and some circuit training for toning. If I can’t get to the gym, I’ll pop a video on YouTube to do at home – I really like the Pop Sugar Fitness ones as I’m always in so much pain the next day that I know it must be working!

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?I like to keep my make up light after a long haul flight so as not to dry out my skin too much. I’ll cleanse, tone and moisturize (I love Dermalogica’s Microfoliant to get rid of dead skin cells and make your skin bright again) and then apply a light BB cream or tinted moisturiser. Tropic do a lovely BB cream that leaves you glowing.

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?

I haven’t really discovered many new treatments or brands on holiday but I do always love a trip to the spa when I’m abroad. I love popping in as they have everything in one place. Also, a trip to the duty free on the way home is a must.

8. Does your skincare routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are traveling to?

If I’m going on a summer holiday where I’ll be doing a lot of sunbathing, I’ll make sure that I use a lot of aftersun all over my body after sunbathing. I also keep my make-up really light – no one wants to see a full face of melting make-up! It also helps when you’re in and out of the pool – you don’t want it running all over you.

For summer holidays I also like getting my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted as they’re blonde so I can’t possibly be seen without make-up on them. I try to keep my beauty and make-up routines on holiday quite minimal so that I can spend the maximum amount of time possible having fun and exploring.

9. What has been your go-to style when travelling?
During summer I love wearing bold prints and I’ve recently really got into wearing patterned jumpsuits. My style is really laid back on holiday so I’ll wear boho accessories and leave my hair to dry naturally.

10. Any packing tips?
I’m actually a really good packer and usually manage to travel quite lightly. The best packing tip is outfit building. Plan what you’re going to wear every day so that you don’t bring unnecessary outfits and add to your luggage allowance. This also helps when you’re trying to decide what to wear as you have little to no choice!

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With…British Belle

November 9, 2015 by admin 5 Comments

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

Deanna, aka The British Belle opens the ‘Jet Set Ready With…‘ series that will feature four bloggers this week(Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). “A British born with an American heart”, she is a History graduate that sees life as one big adventure. I asked Deanna and 3 other bloggers how they get ready for holidays, whether weekend getaways or long vacations. Below is an insight into how Deanna gets Jet Set Ready!

I hope you enjoy the series this week. I  can’t wait to share the rest of the other blogger’s travel beauty and style tips this week. Links to her blog and Instagram are below. Enjoy!

1. How do you get ready for a  holiday?

I have a couple different things I like to do to get holiday ready. Looking the best I can is so important to me. I like to feel confident and proud of myself, my body and my personality. Ballet is a huge passion of mine, as is going to the gym, it really helps me de-stress. Working out and eating well before I go on holiday is something that is super conscious in my mind. I want to look amazing! Relaxing is really important too, travelling and holidays can be stressful to prepare for. I’ll do some holiday shopping a week or so before I’m due to fly to get what I need, and book my beauty treatments so I’m not rushing around. Who doesn’t love shopping and being pampered? It’s like the holiday has started early!

2. What’s your beauty routine before a flight?
About a week before, I will get my hair cut/coloured so that it has time to settle in, I get my hair bleached and the sun can damage this, or the pool water can make it funny if you’re not careful where you go. Then about two to three days before I go, I’ll get my nails done, my eyebrows and fake tan. Tan?! Yes! I want to go looking like bronze goddess, not my usual pale blotchy colour. The night before I’ll always do a face mask, Lush are my favourite.

3. What’s your go to fragrance for your getaway?
Rebel Fluer by Rhianna. It’s very fruity and smells like summer time and sunshine, It puts me in a really happy, excited mood!

4. What’s your favorite beauty treatment?
Absolutely getting my nails done! I adore my acrylic nails, I don’t have them too long. But the uniformity of having my nails all the same shape and length is just too pretty to deny. It’s oddly relaxing, and so much fun if you go with friends.

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

5. Do you do anything extra to get beach ready?
I do up the amount I workout a bit, I might take only one rest day instead of two, and incorporate more cardio and toning exercises. I’ll also try and avoid any naughty treats (save them for holiday!) and eat as clean as possible.

6. Do you have a beauty regime for looking refreshed after a long haul flight?
This one I’ve become quite good at! My fiance lives all the way in America so I make the really long 11-hour journey regularly. I go without a scrap of makeup on, don’t even entertain the idea of putting your skin through that torture, just don’t. During the flight, I’ll slather on some Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, absolutely everywhere. It’s thick and locks in moisture, protecting my face and lips from the awful dry air on the plane. A face mask doesn’t hurt either!

Sometimes I don’t bother with one, you can look crazy with gloopy green stuff all over your skin. When I land I’ll use my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, tone my skin, and pop on some rich moisturiser. For these steps I’ll use whatever mini samples I’ve got at home, they’re perfect for travelling! If I’m seeing my fiance after I land I’ll also pop on my Mac concealer, fill my brows and add a coat or two of They’re Real by Benefit. It helps me look awake! To finish off I always spritz my Mac Studio Finish.

7. Have you discovered any beauty treatments/brands on your travels that you have now incorporated into your beauty routine or lifestyle?
I discovered GlamGlow andEOS lip balms in Sephora about two years ago when I first flew to the states. Obsessed isn’t even the word, I’m so glad they’re somewhat available in the UK now.

Jet Set Beauty | Get Jet Set Ready With...

8. Does your skin care routine change for different seasons or areas around the world you are  traveling to?
Yes! I go to Maine often and it’s bitterly cold in the winter! I have sensitive skin, bleached hair and psoriasis. Nightmare! I use hair masks in place of conditioner when I travel there, the cold really sucks my hair dry and leaves it looking dead if I’m not careful. I only wash my hair two to three times a week, so using a mask isn’t too much! As for skin care, I will use a rich body butter daily- I love Soap and Glory or Body Shop.

9. What has been your go-to style while travelling?
